Cooking up great ideas of how things ought to be is easy. Getting things to actually change is hard, especially in large, complex organizations. The meeting about ”the new vision” goes over fine, then everyone drifts back to his or her office and nothing changes. This book provides the diagnostic tools managers need to assess their particular needs for change, and then the tool kit required to implement the changes one wants to see.

In earlier experiments, charge spacing rules were developed for excavating a uniform channel through level terrain. The experiment described in this report was made to determine if those rules were also applicable to terrain with a single elevation change. The spacing rule for a channel with a uniform width was used. Too great an elevation change was used in the first firew tests, resulting in a channel which was unacceptably narrow at the end with the higher elevation. For the later tests in which the elevation change was reduced, the spacing rules were found to produce a channel with uniform width throughout. The applicability of the spacing rules to terrain with a single elevation change was verified where the spacing between unequal size charges was the average of the spacing which would have been used had those charges been one of a row in level terrain.
