Saxton was given such educational advantages, only, as the village school afforded, and at the age of fourteen years began life as a wage-earner in the paper mills, where he continued working for about eight years. Desirous then of finding more remunerative employment, he prospected in different localities, finally becoming a clerk at a lunch counter at Toledo, Ohio.
