Excerpt from A Text-Book of Dental Pathology and Therapeutics: For Students and Practitioners In revising this work the Editor has borne in mind the original motive of its author, namely, the production of a text-book which may serve as a useful basis of instruction upon a subject which students find difficult to comprehend from lectures alone. To this end, while the original plan and arrangement of chapters have been in the main adhered to, no hesitancy has been felt in revising the text, which, with the exception of certain portions, has been rewritten in order that new material might be inserted in its proper place and bearings. Where material has been drawn from the work of others full credit has been accorded. The section on pharmacology has been omitted, and in its stead the remedial agents referred to in the text have been completely indexed, so that their uses may be studied without difficulty. The Editor desires here to express his thanks to the authors whose illustrations appear in the book and to the editors and publishers of the various dental journals and text-books from which they have been taken. In no instance has a request been denied. In consideration of the fact that acknowledgment is not manifest in the text, the Editor would thank the S. S.
