DOWNLOAD EBOOKTraditional Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems adopted symbolic processing as their main paradigm. Symbolic AI systems have proved effective in handling problems characterized by exact and complete knowledge representation. Unfortunately, these systems have very little power in dealing with imprecise, uncertain and incomplete data and information which significantly contribute to the description of many real world problems, both physical systems and processes as well as mechanisms of decision making. Moreover, there are many situations where the expert domain knowledge (the basis for many symbolic AI systems) is not sufficient for the design of intelligent systems, due to incompleteness of the existing knowledge, problems caused by different biases of human experts, difficulties in forming rules, etc. In general, problem knowledge for solving a given problem can consist of an explicit knowledge (e.g., heuristic rules provided by a domain an implicit, hidden knowledge "buried" in past-experience expert) and numerical data. A study of huge amounts of these data (collected in databases) and the synthesizing of the knowledge "encoded" in them (also referred to as knowledge discovery in data or data mining), can significantly improve the performance of the intelligent systems designed.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKThe book presents logical foundations for rule-based systems. An attempt has been made to provide an in-depth discussion of logical and other aspects of such systems, including languages for knowledge representation, inference mechanisms, inference control, design and verification. The ultimate goal was to provide a deeper theoretical insight into the nature of rule-based systems and put together the most complete presentation including details so frequently skipped in typical textbooks. The book may be useful to potentially wide audience, but it is aimed at providing specific knowledge for graduate, post-graduate and Ph.D. students, as well as knowledge engineers and research workers involved in the domain of AI. It also constitutes a summary of the Author’s research and experience gathered through several years of his research work.

DOWNLOAD EBOOKBackstepping Control of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems addresses both the fundamentals of backstepping control and advances in the field. The latest techniques explored include ‘active backstepping control’, ‘adaptive backstepping control’, ‘fuzzy backstepping control’ and ‘adaptive fuzzy backstepping control’. The reference book provides numerous simulations using MATLAB and circuit design. These illustrate the main results of theory and applications of backstepping control of nonlinear control systems. Backstepping control encompasses varied aspects of mechanical engineering and has many different applications within the field. For example, the book covers aspects related to robot manipulators, aircraft flight control systems, power systems, mechanical systems, biological systems and chaotic systems. This multifaceted view of subject areas means that this useful reference resource will be ideal for a large cross section of the mechanical engineering community. Details the real-world applications of backstepping control Gives an up-to-date insight into the theory, uses and application of backstepping control Bridges the gaps for different fields of engineering, including mechanical engineering, aeronautical engineering, electrical engineering, communications engineering, robotics and biomedical instrumentation
