The book deals with the subject of the Tabernacle and its two altars. The study seeks to apply the concepts of these two altars to churches and individual Christians of today. The study deals with salvation, and priesthood. We enter into the Holy place before God and because of God for a purpose. Our place is in front of the Golden Altar where we are to praise God, pray, supplicate and intercede for others. Dr. Robert Elam is now a retired missionary living in Florida after spending thirty-six years on the mission field of Brazil. There he worked with the people in starting churches and teaching in Bible Institutes. He has taught the Tabernacle, one of his favorite subjects, from entrance to the mercy seat several times and has used the material time after time to witness to people about their need for salvation. He is listed in the Princeton Premier Business Leaders and Professional catalogue for 2008-2009-2010 listings. He has taught from coast to coast and has written essays on several subjects, one being printed on the site (CreationDesign.org.): "The Body-an Engineering Masterpiece." Another series of lectures was written on Evolution: A Perfect Creation verses a Continual Evolution. Dr; Robert Elam has created and taught courses like Comparative Theology and Baptist History: reading between the lines of History. Dr. Elam graduated from Baptist Bible College in 1967 after studying three years in Electrical Engineering at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque. Seeing the need to get a more advanced degree, Robert went to the Louisiana Baptist University in Shreveport and finished his Masters in 2000 and his doctorate in 2002. Whenever God did something amazing or a miracle in the lives of His people, He told them to build an altar of twelve large stones to remember His gift to them. However, it is also for their children to ask what it is for, so they could tell them about the faithfulness of their God. When I asked the Lord what He wanted me to name this book He put strongly in my heart “Altars of Remembrance” to tell all the wonderful ways He guides and protects those who are His. Now with her second book “MORE Altars of Remembrance” it continues with the unbelievable love and faithfulness of this great God. Altars in the Street is the personal chronicle of Melody Ermachild Chavis, who bought a house in what was a quiet interracial neighborhood on the south side of Berkeley, California, but which became a place where drugs and violence were growth industries. It is about the life of a mother trying with other mothers to raise children in a dangerous world. It is also the inspiring story of how she and her neighbors found ways of working with each other, the youngsters, the elderly, the unemployed, the addicts, the drunks, and even the police and the drug dealers--in a courageous effort to preserve their homes and their lives. It teaches community action we can all adopt, such as tutoring at local schools, encouraging teenagers to start a gardening project, and accompanying them to court when they find themselves in trouble. This book illustrates our collective responsibility for bringing about healing. It is a brave and wonderful wake-up call, full of the nitty-gritty of how each of us can make a difference when push really does come to shove. Drawing on deep reserves of good humor, common sense, and practical experience of nonviolent action, Melody Ermachild Chavis has written a moving testament to the power of spirit in today's often cynical world. Altars in the Street is for people who live in cities and those who have fled them. It will speak to anyone who cares about the future of our children, our neighborhoods, and our nation, anyone who wants to look truthfully at the relationship between poverty and prisons, and between community and education. It is also for those who seek to put spirituality to work where it really counts--on the street where we live. From the Hardcover edition.
