In Bigger Kingdom or Bigger Barns, Dan Celia, nationally recognized author, syndicated radio talk-show host, and the go-to person for hundreds of conservative talk radio and TV since the financial/economic crises began, provides sound advice about future estate planning with a biblical perspective. As Dan so candidly states, 'Plans fail for lack of planning.' We should not have to worry about whether our estate will be taken care of after the Lord calls us home. Find peace in the security of a will or trust, and rid yourself of the bonds of worldly prosperity and the all-consuming question of whether to build a Bigger Kingdom or Bigger Barn. Plan your giving to further the heavenly kingdom, and you will be blessed.

This book is an exciting opportunity for exercising individual thought based upon humanity's search for a significant role in the ongoing drama of a much better world. It is a challenge to all of humanity of every race and culture, every religious faith, and to those who possess an avid religion of no religion, the pure atheist. Throughout the book, the author proclaims the dignity of the human creature as he seeks his destiny. It reflects a destiny that exists beyond all human comprehension, and is not to be restricted by any religion, especially Christianity. The author suggests that the most tragic happening for the Christian faith is that it has been categorized as "just another religion". The central theme of the book is that there is an awesomely bigger picture for the success of human life, and we are a precise part of its unfolding as humans, with the gifts of a reasoning mind, and a delicate inner spirit, searching for meaning and destiny. The book suggests that the ultimate destiny and goal is the ultimate perfection of human nature; his character and his behavior. This lies at the heart of all searching minds, and spirits, as they are driven to a discovery or destiny. Contained in Paul's letter to the Corinthians in the first century is his observation that "the human eye has never seen, or the ear heard; nor has there entered into the mind of any man, what it is that God has prepared for those who love Him." This book affirms that God is, and that God possesses the true blueprint for the perfection of human nature. Our human destiny is dependent upon our relationship to the Master Creator and our cooperation with Him. This is a crucial ingredient of all religions, and for all human beings who can recognize that God has created the human creature in His own image of a mind and spirit capable of communication with Him. This book does not attempt to identify the realistic facts of what the "bigger picture" is like. It only challenges us to realize that there is a "bigger picture", and we humans must participate in the development of it. We can only use our God-given minds and our spirits to cooperate with God in the attainment of a perfect humanity in a perfect new world. The book is designed as a "thinking" and "pondering" opportunity. It consists of nine chapters containing commentaries on the meaning of life, followed by thought- provoking sermons preached many years ago, but are currently challenging with a great depth of thought that enables the reader to ponder and consider and experience what it is that is happening to us as a part of the drama of world history, and cosmic exploration. The Christian event is vital to our thinking exploration because it was a happening that revealed the simple but essential fact that we humans are a part of a dramatic movement of life that involves the entire panorama of the cosmic universe. The book is full of affirmations that we humans are a part of a much more significant existence than we realize. Chapter titles reflect the insightful progress of the book: Chapter 1 "The Prelude"; Chapter II "The Glory of Life"; Chapter III "The Vital Truth That Eludes Us"; Chapter IV "Life is Utterly Amazing"; Chapter V "What is Really Going On?"; Chapter VI "Faith Is Vital"; Chapter VII "When Hope Comes Alive"; Chapter Vifi "Love Is Like a Miracle"; and Chapter IX "Your Ultimate Goal". The fmal statement of the author reflects his common-sense analysis of human life. He states that "There is no such thing as perfection in this life, but ultimately in 'God's Bigger Picture' there will be!" It is God's goal for His human creation--you and me.

Big churches didn’t create the problems facing today’s congregations. But our obsession with size has come at a great cost. We’re obsessed with bigness. Supersized meals and TV screens. Square footage. And big churches. “What’s the size of your church?” That question has stirred insecurities or stroked the ego of too many pastors. For a long time, we thought bigger was better. “Church growth” and “numbers” dominated our thoughts and conversations. But more than ever, people are feeling disconnected. Trust in the church is dwindling. In De-sizing the Church, pastor Karl Vaters takes us on a multi-faceted journey through our centuries-long obsession with size, both in and outside the church, and how it has negatively affected those who serve and worship in big and small congregations alike. He also dispels some prevailing myths and affirms what was good and true about the Church Growth Movement. And he invites us to consider how removing church size from the equation can be an essential element in rebuilding trust, restoring relationships, and renewing our spiritual lives. This book reframes the way we see the size of our churches and helps us see health and fruitfulness through de-sized lenses. The result? Renewed congregations that reach surrounding communities and faithfully engage culture.

America has for years been in a long spiritual battle between deceived intolerant intellectuals and Christianity. They have changed the definition of science and applied that false definition to deny the rights to Christians of free speech in public institutions, believing they can produce a superior people and society. This is the intolerance of Nazi Germany and Soviet Russia. The spiritual battle is nearing a crisis. This book is chapters from a history of modern science. Intellectuals have perverted divine laws in economics, distorting supply and demand by selfish greed; in psychology, changing the nature of sex for individual lust rather than for intimacy of man and woman in marriage to produce family; in sociology, changing uniting relationships to promises of individual freedom from controls; and changing politics, to a democratic socialistic government to promote equality of all individuals, people and groups. Your future depends on understanding this. Carl W. Wilson has a degree and done years of study for reporting in science and has two degrees and experience in teaching in evangelical graduate schools and in churches on theology. He received honors for all his academic work and when he recently retired from teaching seven years in an accredited graduate school the whole faculty gave him a commendation "for concern for academic excellence and the shaping of student lives in holy ways." He has planted, been a senior pastor, and trained leaders in churches, and has been a leader in two large national Christian organizations. He has published numerous books, some on the effects of scientific philosophy on the decline of past civilizations and of America and has written a comprehensive study of the history of modem science, 1500 A.D. to present. He has been married to Sara Jo for sixty years and they have a large family.

"On page 27 Jay states, 'The more prosperous people become the fewer close and intimate relationships they will have.' He is not the author that backs up everything with journal articles and research so it is a statement in a vacuum but it is very true. The other chapters are very good and poignant to the struggle wealthy Christians face. Chapter one is an overview, 'Should I build bigger barns?' The parable in Luke 12 is unpacked very well. You'd think he was a preacher. Chapter 3 talks about trust and he hints that in his estate planning issues he gives away more to charities than IRS or even children. But I echo that idea as well. Kids who inherit money often blow it. But in chapter 4 or dilemma 4 he talks about more detail in handling this transition. So it appears that the sample on page 39 is not what he recommends to everyone. Chapter four quotes Warren Buffet, 'I want to give my children enough of an inheritance that they feel like they can do anything, but not so much of an inheritance that they may choose to do nothing.' I love that quote! And that type of thought really seems to resonate well with Mr. Link also. The last collection of dilemmas 7, 8, 9 and 10 are about giving. Jay's thoughts here are right in line with National Christian Foundation ... The Gathering and Generous Giving Organizations"--Amazon.com.

God is radically dedicated to our ongoing growth in spiritual maturity and holiness. This is both glorious and terrifying. It is glorious because the Lord of heaven and earth is for us. But it is terrifying because we are idolaters. This means that when God brings greater redemption into our lives he also brings a death sentence to our fallen desires. In love, God will do whatever it takes - even tearing us to shreds if necessary - to replace our feeble pleasures with lasting desire for himself. Sadly, in our culture two false responses to suffering have become deeply embedded in the Church: deadly dualism and shallow stoicism. Each can effectively hijack God's good purpose in suffering. Torn to Heal equips us to understand and reject these false and self-defeating approaches to suffering, and to embrace God's good purpose in our trials.
