Each depot is clearly rated, based upon a five star criteria which considers both the number and variety of locomotives that you are likely to see, along with more environmental factors such as accessibility, facilities and day/time of year considerations. The authors' personal favourites are also identified. Finally, the guide includes bespoke rail 'rover' and 'ranger' maps and tables identifying which sites each ticket allows you to visit and/or travel past by train.
