It may, as we have already seen, be a general authority, or it may be a special authority. It may be express, or it may be implied. In regard both to a general, and to a special express authority, it may be conferred by a formal instrument, as by a letter of attorney under seal; or it may be by a writing of an informal and loose character, such as a letter, or memorandum, or it may be by parol or oral declarations. 58.
