"From the moment Jesse Baker collides with Erin O'Grady on a Boston train platform, he faces a dilemma. For once, Jesse doesn't want to lie about who and what he is. Yet if she learns he's a con artist, not a cowboy-and the urchin with him is certainly not his brother-she'll never give him a chance. Erin suspects there's more to the enigmatic cowboy than meets the eye. But the sheltered socialite is certain his deep compassion is real. On the long Christmastime train ride to Wyoming, hearts and courage are tested and true motives revealed. And the journey that began in a charade may end with redemption-and a very real love" -- Cover verso.

COUNTERFEIT COWBOY by Ginny Baird When it comes to love, Only the heart knows for sure... New York reporter Eve Parker is done with being a bridesmaid and ready to become a Wild West Bride. When her editorial director sends her to Wyoming to write an article on a new matchmaking service, Eve's prepared to go under cover. Little does she suspect she'll wind up under the covers with an ultra sexy cowboy. Ted Walker is handsome and charming, and oh so easy to kiss. So easy, in fact, Eve nearly forgets he's the subject of her story. When she reveals the truth, will Ted still be willing to confide? Eve's soon to learn she's not the only one keeping secrets. Ted Walker calls Jackson Hole home. He's got wide open spaces, room to ride, and a dependable place to hang his hat. He's got a booming business besides. With males outnumbering females in these parts, he and his buddy Brian have developed foolproof algorithms for predicting ideal couples. All they have to do is sign up for a week of Wild West Brides adventures, and let the mountain air and moonlight do the rest. When one of Ted's "grooms" goes missing, it's only natural for Ted to fill in. It's just for the week, and he's never mixed business with pleasure. That was before a stunning redhead came to town. Now Ted finds his interest in Eve is more than strictly professional. But how can he be sure her summer loving is for real?

This series of biographical profiles shines a spotlight on that special place "Where the West meets the Guitar." From Gene Autry and Roy Rogers to contemporary artists like Michael Murphy, Red Steagall, Don Edwards and Riders in the Sky, many entertainers have performed music of the West, a genre separate from mainstream country music and yet an important part of the country music heritage. Once called "Country and Western," it is now described as "Country or Western." Though much has been written about "Country," very little has been written about "Western"--until now. Featured are a number of photos of the top stars in Western music, past and present. Also included is an extensive bibliography of works related to the Western music field.

Cowboy Christians examines the long history of cowboy Christianity in the American West, with a focus on the present-day cowboy church movement. Based on five years of historical and sociological fieldwork in cowboy Christian communities, this book draws on interviews with leaders of cowboy churches, traveling rodeo ministries, and chaplains who serve horse racing and bull riding communities, along with the author's first-hand experiences as a participant observer. Marie W. Dallam traces cowboy Christianity from the postbellum period into the twenty-first century, looking at religious life among cowboys on the range as well as its representation in popular imagery and the media. She examines the structure, theology, and perpetuation of the modern cowboy church, and speculates on future challenges the institution may face, such as the relegation of women to subordinate participant roles at a time of increasing gender equality in the larger society. She also explores the cowboy Christian proclivity for blending the secular and the sacred in leisure environments like arenas, racetracks, and rodeos. Dallam locates the modern cowboy church as a descendant of the muscular Christianity movement, the Jesus movement, and new paradigm church methodology. Cowboy Christians establishes the religious significance of the cowboy church movement, particularly relative to twenty-first-century evangelical Protestantism, and contributes to a deeper understanding of the unique Christianity of the American West.
