Then, there are some journeys so odd that, in order to understand the Author, you...must be willing to take a walk, even momentarily, in their shoes. Once a taboo subject, victims of rape and molestation were left without a voice with nowhere to turn and no one to help them. In Take a Walk in My Shoes, author B. J. Parker shares her personal story of being raped and molested by her stepfather at a young age. She exposes the controversial topic of molestation, its long-term adverse effects on interpersonal relationships, its role in promoting self-destructive behaviors, and the need to find control. In this inspirational memoir, Parker, now fifty-three years old, comes to terms with her early abuse and tells about taking the crucial steps needed to find her way back. Take a Walk in My Shoes narrates Parker's story and how she adopted a life of alcohol and drugs to ease the constant emotional pain and how she chose to be homeless rather than live in a dwelling that had everything, including her abuser. Her story follows her journey through childhood and as a runaway teenager, a high school dropout, and a single mother. Take a Walk in My Shoes tells how she overcame the stigma of abuse by sharing the message that successes are possible for each and every victim. Parker explains how to embrace life, believe in yourself, dig deep within your soul, and hold tight to your dreams.

Writing this book with all these poems that are all real life experiences that I went through and many other people go or are going through it feels as if I am their voice through this book. Writing has always been how I express any feelings from pain to joy, bitter to sweet, and not everyone can poetically put their thoughts in writing. All these feeling put together all form the chambers of my heart. Four chambers each pumping a different mood caused by the many experiences of my life. Whether it had to do with love, death, a sexual encounter (whether it took place in a physical aspect or just a fantasy in my mind), some form of politics from the streets to mainstream America, and day to day conflicting events that I face, and many others face. All these thoughts, feelings, and actions are all conjured up all in my mind that never rests bringing you Chambers of My Heart Poetical Scriptures Volume 1.

Homecoming Queen, Senior Class President, Yearbook Editor, National Honor Society Member, Cornell and Columbia Graduate, Wife, Daughter, Sister, Business Owner, Christian Consultant, HR Professional...but there is so much more to her story. No one knows what you've been through until they've walked a mile in your shoes. Lady Charmaine Day has gotten the courage to tell her story, through pictures, poems and a brief narrative about a life of public triumph over personal adversity. When I wrote my book Zero Mathematics: The Science of Today, I was at the end of the line. I truly had been there and done that and wanted wisdom. After writing that book, I realized that no one knew the story behind the smile. I invite you in so that you can understand my past to appreciate how I value the present, a gift of happiness only God could have given me and one that he can bless you with too.
