The large majority of the content is fictional, but of course, based on true events from her life. There is one memoir piece at the very end. Be warned that she doesn't shy away from topics that are difficult to swallow, and you will encounter some heavy pieces. Jiang believes in giving a voice to those who deserve to be heard, which means she writes about sensitive topics that are often neglected or ignored, such as the very real symptoms of mental illness and how they affect people's everyday lives. With that being said, there are some light-hearted pieces for comic relief sprinkled throughout some heavily emotional pieces. Reader discretion is advised.
