The Keenan cotton has lint which is slightly coarser and shorter than that of the Columbia variety and has a tendency to lack uni formity in length on the seed. The variety, however, has excellent lint as a whole, is prolific, opens well, and is fairly early. Tests under the conditions existing at Columbia, S. C., indicate that it is a variety of considerable promise. It requires to be further improved by selecting to secure a more uniform length of lint, this character yet remaining rather too variable.
