Dr. Virtue teaches us how to use our sixth sense so we can lay our hearts open to the possibility of healing. Begin a dialogue with the angels and you can achieve, in a practical way, the fulfilling life you want and deserve. In Divine Prescriptions, bestselling author Dr. Doreen Virtue illuminates the ways all of us can receive healing messages from God and the guardian angels when we need guidance. The angels will speak to us about health, family, relationships, finances, and careers, and Divine Prescriptions proves that fact citing case studies, angel readings, and transcripts from Dr. Virtue's angel therapy sessions. When the problems we face are too complex to be solved by counselors, friends, or even Dear Abby, Dr. Virtue shows us another way-a divine way-to discover answers. Divine Prescriptions also explains how and why God and our guardian angels use us as messengers to give advice and consolation to others. She explains how to distinguish between normal conversations and key messages from the angels (who are constantly around us) and provides step-by-step instructions for performing angel readings. Dr. Virtue's universe is benign, the angels around us mean us well, and once we are able to receive their vitally important communications our goals and those of the people we love will become attainable.

Would you volunteer for open heart surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation treatments? Would you consider becoming severely depressed? Well don't worry, you won't have to volunteer. Unfortunately, heart disease and cancer are the leading causes of death in the United States. If you live a normal life span, the chances are better than even money that you will experience one of the above conditions. And should you ever need to be in a hospital, will you be adequately insured or will it be a trip to the poor house for you and your family? Even those who don't need to be hospitalized spend millions of dollars daily on prescription drugs, and yes, antidepressants are still listed among the top selling prescription drugs in the country. If there is a loving God, then why do so many people find themselves in these kinds of situations? Would you prefer not to be in such a situation? If your doctor informed you that by reading just five or ten minutes a day for the next 30 days you could significantly lower your risk of experiencing these types of conditions, would you follow his or her advice? What if your doctor told you that your recovery was far more likely, would you listen then? Dispensing Truth addresses these issues from a biblical basis but with the unique perspective of one who is not only an ordained minister but a community pharmacist as well. The results reveal some amazing answers. Answers that provide truth, hope, and encouragement to the troubled, to the sick, and to the dying. Discover for yourself a file of divine prescriptions that can restore and maintain good health.

This book reviews selected biblical evidence for and against this proposition with an assessment of the persuasive value of this evidence including a comparison of modern evidentiary standards with those at the time the Gospels were written. Also covered are some controversial issues such as the Church and Money and adult access to official Church teachings. What are the modern Christian concerns about issues such as abortion, euthanasia, cloning, stem cell research, terrorism, child sexual abuse and other issues, especially those on which the Church has no dogma or firm teaching?

This work focuses on divine command, and in particular the theory that what makes something obligatory is that God commands it, and what makes something wrong is that God commands us not to do it. Focusing on the Abrahamic faiths, eminent scholar John E. Hare explains that two experiences have had to be integrated. The first is that God tells us to do something, or not to do something. The second is that we have to work out ourselves what to do and what not to do. The difficulty has come in establishing the proper relation between them. In Christian reflection on this, two main traditions have emerged, divine command theory and natural law theory. Hare successfully defends a version of divine command theory, but also shows that there is considerable overlap with some versions of natural law theory. He engages with a number of Christian theologians, particularly Karl Barth, and extends into a discussion of divine command within Judaism and Islam. The work concludes by examining recent work in evolutionary psychology, and argues that thinking of our moral obligations as produced by divine command offers us some help in seeing how a moral conscience could develop in a way that is evolutionarily stable.

This book offers a clear and concise historical overview of the major religious movements of the ancient Mediterranean world existing from the time of the second millennium BCE up until the fourth century CE, including both the Judeo-Christian and pagan religious traditions. Recognizing the significant role of religious institutions in human history and acknowledging the diversity of religious ideas and practices in the ancient Mediterranean world, “religion” is defined as a collection of myths, beliefs, rituals, ethical practices, social institutions and experiences related to the realm of the sacred cosmos. Without focusing too much attention on technicalities and complex vocabulary, the book provides an introductory road map for exploring the vast array of religious data permeating the ancient Mediterranean world. Through an examination of literary and archeological evidence, the book summarizes the fundamental religious beliefs and practices of the ancient Near Eastern world, including the religious traditions of ancient Mesopotamia, Egypt and Israel. Turning westward, the fascinating world of ancient Greek and Roman religion is considered next. The discussion begins with a description of Minoan-Mycenaean religion, followed by a consideration of classical Roman and Greek religion. Next, the numerous religious movements that blossomed during Hellenistic-Roman times are discussed. In addition, the fundamental theological contributions of various Greco-Roman philosophical schools of thought, including Orphism, Stoicism, Pythagoreanism, Platonism and Neo-Platonism, are described. Greco-Roman philosophy functioned as a quasi-religious outlook for many, and played a decisive role in the evolution of religion in the classical and Hellenistic period. The theological speculations of the philosophers regarding the nature of God and the soul made a huge impact in religious circles during the classical and Hellenistic era. Moving forward in history from archaic and classical times to the later Hellenistic-Roman period, the old religious order of the past falls by the wayside and a new updated religious paradigm begins to develop throughout the Mediterranean world, with a greater emphasis being placed upon the religious individual and the expression of personal religious feelings. There are several important social and historical reasons for this shift in perspective and these factors are explained in the chapter focusing upon personal religion in Hellenistic times. Since the entire religious topography of the ancient Mediterranean world is rarely outlined in a single volume, this book will be a welcome addition to anyone’s library.
