Volume III/28 is a supplement to volume III/16a+b Ferroelectrics and Related Substances. It also consists of two parts a and b. The present subvolume III/28a contains data on ferroelectric oxides, supplementing III/16a which appeared in 1981. Subvolume III/28b, due in 1990, will cover non-oxides, supplementing III/16b (published in 1982). Reliable data on both pure compounds and solid solutions, published mostly between 1978 and 1986 and some data from the literature up to early 1988 are critically evaluated and included. The dielectric and ferroelectric behaviour, as well as all other properties relevant to the characterization of these substances are presented in tables and figures. About 22,000 references have been surveyed with the aid of a computer. All values are given in SI units. Rapid localization of the required data is facilitated by an alphabetical index of substances and a two-dimensional survey of substances and properties dealt with in both subvolumes III/28a and III/16a.

The analysis of materials containing several elements used to be a difficult problem for analytical chemists, so a well established sequence of wet chemical qualitative tests were performed to ensure each element was detected. Most analytical chemists were very familiar with these techniques, having been taugth them from a very early stage in their education and careers. The analytical chemist can now call on a range of specialist instrumental techniques which can detect the presence of many elements, often simultaneously, and often quantitatively, providing rapid results on samples which, in the past, could take days. The drawback is that the instruments tend to be expensive, suited to particular sample types or matrices and complex in both setting up and in the interpretation of results. The tomography problem considered in this volume of the Inverse and Ill-Posed Problems Series consists of finding an essential part of information about the internal structure of an unknown medium. More particularly, the contact boundaries between various materials in the medium are sought. This investigation is implemented by studying an appropriate mathematical model, which is represented as a transport equation (linear Boltzmann's equation) together with certain boundary conditions. Both theoretical and numerical methods have been used and the results consist of proved theorems, computer testing of the corresponding algorithms, together with a number of tables. This book may be considered as a continuation and application of Transport Equation and Tomography by D.S. Anikonov, A.E. Kovtanyuk and I.V. Prokhorov, previously published in this series.

The extracted data is part of the following fundamental material research fields: crystal structures (S), phase diagrams (also called constitution) (C) and the comprehensive field of intrinsic physical properties (P). This work has been done systematically starting with the literature going back to 1900. The above mentioned research field codes (S, C, P) as well as the chemical systems investigated in each publication were included in the present work. The aim of the Inorganic Substances Bibliography is to provide researchers with a comprehensive compilation of all up to now published scientific publications on inorganic systems in only three handy volumes.
