This book is a second volume, containing information on 100 additional lakes in Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, Missoula and Sanders counties of northwest Montana. They range from lowland lakes to alpine lakes. Many can be driven to, while many others require a hike. Most fishing guides offer very limited information on a large number of lakes, most of which their authors have never even been near. This book provides detailed information on the lake and surrounding area, as well as directions and fishing tips. All lakes included in this book have been personally visited, photographed, and in most cases fished by the author. The emphasis is on the fisherman's perspective, but trail and camping information is equally applicable to those who only wish to hike and camp. This volume covers many lakes in the Yaak area, as well as the Jewel Basin and additional waters in the Ten Lakes area near Eureka. Many lakes are found in the Lolo, Flathead, Kootenai and Kaniksu National Forests. Hikes into lakes in the Cabinet Mountains Wilderness and Mission Mountains Wilderness are also included. Photographic opportunities, for both scenery and wildlife, in the areas covered by this book are limitless. While researching this volume, bear (black and grizzly), cougar, wolves, mountain goats, moose, elk, countless deer, and even porcupine were encountered. The book is separated into chapters for each lake. A photograph of the lake is included at the beginning of each chapter. The author is a ten-time Washington State record holder, with certified weight records for five different species of fish. Catch data for several hundred lakes, dating back to 1981, has been provided to Washington State fish biologists. Data dating back to 1994 has also been provided to the State of Montana. Born and raised in northwest Washington and part of a very outdoor oriented family, the author has spent his entire life exploring new places and looking for new waters to fish. So far the search for fishing opportunities has ranged across the states of Washington, Idaho and Montana.
