As we delve into this epistle, it is essential to begin with an understanding of its author, Peter, his calling, and the character of its recipients. The keys to the Kingdom of God (Matthew 16:19) and the sheep of God's pasture (John 21:15-17) were entrusted to Peter. In this letter, as in the writings of James, John, and the Epistle to the Hebrews, the theme of the Rapture is not present, but rather the Revelation of Jesus Christ (1 Peter 1:7). Prophetically, the First Epistle of Peter is of utmost importance, offering great comfort to the suffering remnant scattered worldwide during the tribulation that will follow the Rapture of the Church.
