The collection of Burmese art housed at the Denison Museum in Granville, Ohio, USA, includes more than 1,500 objects dating from the late first millennium AD through the twentieth century. While particularly strong on textiles originating with minority groups in Burma, it also showcases Buddha images, lacquer objects, works on paper, manuscripts, wood carvings, and pieces made from bronze, silver, and ivory. Eclectic Collecting is both a catalogue of the collection and a scholarly examination of Burmese art.

Most of the stories in this book have been published electronically, but this is the first time they are available in print. ""Captive,"" a novelette, has never been published before. The genres include political satires, conspiracy theories, psychological thrillers, and controversial themes such as same-sex relationships and religious satire. Some of the stories deal with tests of faith and others are pure fantasy. These stores are intended not only to entertain, but to cause the reader to think in ways they may not be used to. To many, some of the stories will seem opened ended. That is the intention, so the reader can ponder different possibile solutions to various social issues.

Since Five Easy Pieces was already taken as a title, I guess Short Rounds will have to do. Also, it seems appropriate that, as of this writing, I have five published books in print. These five short stories can serve as a complementary addendum to those five books. I also include a short ?spiritual memoir? titled Faith Came Easy and two previously unpublished poems. I will try to let the short fiction speak for itself, but I should add that it is as eclectic as I can make it. There is mystery, science fiction, scene portraiture and even an attempt at horror. So here goes. Some quick reads and, I hope, interesting pieces. They pretty much all stand alone, except possibly ?Inside Out, ? which utilizes the main character from my Adirondack Mystery series, Hallum Johnson. The other stories are all orphans in character and the fact that this is the first time they have seen the light of day in publication

From the author of the New York Times bestseller Letters of Note comes a collection of 75 of history's most interesting, profound, and sometimes unknown speeches from a range of scintillating personalities such as Frederick Douglass, Justin Trudeau, Albert Einstein, Meghan Markle, Barbara Jordan, and Ursula K. Le Guin. This thoughtfully curated and richly illustrated collection celebrates oratory old and new, highlighting speeches we know and admire, while also shining a light on profound drafts that were never delivered or have until now been forgotten. From George Bernard Shaw's warm and rousing toast to Albert Einstein in 1930 and the commencement address affectionately given to graduates at Long Island University by Kermit the Frog, to the chilling public announcement (that was thankfully never made) by President Richard Nixon should Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin become stranded on the moon, Speeches of Note honors the words and ideas of some of history’s most provocative and inspiring personages.
