A woman is the last thing on Ben Morgan's mind as he comes home to Morgan's Run, his family's ranch in Saguaro Valley. Doctor's orders, he's home to heal, but the sooner he can get back to Santa Barbara, the better. Then he runs into Maggie Williams on Main Street, prompting vivid memories of a magical night, and Ben's ailing heart skips a beat. Father of her beloved five year old daughter, the eldest of the Morgan sons is the last person Maggie expects to have crash into her car and back into her life. For years, she has struggled to forget him and to make a life for herself and her daughter, Emma, the mirror image of a father, who is unaware of her existence. Now, here he is, looking more gorgeous than the day he ran out of town. Maggie swears Ben Morgan will never break her heart again.

This study attempts to trace Eugene O'Neill's theatrical contour from its origin to its end, by discussing each of his works in the approximate chronological order of composition. The book is thus a form of biography, although it pays no heed to those events of O'Neill's life that did not have direct bearing on his professional career. By virtue of O'Neill's central position in the drama of the modern world, this study also has become, within the limits its subject sets for it, a form of theatrical history. An appendix contains a complete factual record of important productions of O'Neill's plays. ISBN 0-19-504548-3 (pbk.): $12.95.

A doe-eyed virgin, a smoking hot rival, and a global cooking competition with millions of viewers. What could possibly go wrong? My overprotective Italian mother would drown me in holy water if she knew I applied to an international cooking show—or how dirty my mind truly is. Now, I’m Paris bound as one of eight contestants. I know I’m one of the best new chefs and soon the world will know it, too. The only thing standing in my way is a tall, growly, bad boy chef with more tattoos than skin. He’s brilliant in the kitchen and so smoking hot I’d probably need a pair of oven mitts to touch him. Not that I’d want to. The last thing I need right now is a distraction. But he’s currently looming in my hotel room with a proposal. My knowledge of Italian cuisine in exchange for his German sausage. Sweet Mary, Mother of God, that’s a lot of sausage. Seared is a sizzling romantic comedy featuring a slow-burn romance between two rivals trying to balance their powerful desire for each other with their intense will to win. HEA and no cheating, it's a full-length, stand-alone novel that’s perfect for those who love fine food, celebrity chefs, reality TV, and sweet and sexy romance books!

In 1995 and 1996 six film or television adaptations of Jane Austen's novels were produced -- an unprecedented number. More amazing, all were critical and/or box office successes. What accounts for this explosion of interest? Much of the appeal of these films lies in our nostalgic desire at the end of the millennium for an age of greater politeness and sexual reticence. Austen's ridicule of deceit and pretentiousness also appeals to our fin de siècle sensibilities. The novels were changed, however, to enhance their appeal to a wide popular audience, and the revisions reveal much about our own culture and its values. These recent productions espouse explicitly twentieth-century feminist notions and reshape the Austenian hero to make him conform to modern expectations. Linda Troost and Sayre Greenfield present fourteen essays examining the phenomenon of Jane Austen as cultural icon, providing thoughtful and sympathetic insights on the films through a variety of critical approaches. The contributors debate whether these productions enhance or undercut the subtle feminism that Austen promoted in her novels. From Persuasion to Pride and Prejudice, from the three Emmas (including Clueless ) to Sense and Sensibility, these films succeed because they flatter our intelligence and education. And they have as much to tell us about ourselves as they do about the world of Jane Austen. This second edition includes a new chapter on the recent film version of Mansfield Park.
