More and more children are expressing spiritual qualities, and parents, caregivers, pediatricians, teachers, and therapists are increasingly taking notice of children's spiritual lives. Mollie Painton, Psy.D., a well-known child therapist, helps parents understand this phenomenon in the framework of spiritual intelligence. By understanding this concept, we can honor our children's gifts and develop our own spiritual intelligence along the way. Any parent whose child has had an imaginary friend, talked with a deceased relative, or been receptive to the pain and emotion of others will find guidance and inspiration in Encouraging your Child's Spiritual Intelligence. Dr. Painton's thoughtful quizzes and advice provide added support and insight throughout the book. Adults, who have had their own spiritual experiences in childhood dismissed, will rediscover their original spiritual connection and become valuable spiritual partners with their children.

You send your children to school, help them with homework, and save for their college years - all in the hope they will grow to be smart and successful adults. But as recent studies have shown, a child's intelligence quotient (IQ) is just part of the equation necessary for a fulfilling life. Equally important is your child's SQ, or spiritual quotient. But how do you build an SQ? That's where Growing a Soul comes in. Through detailed instruction, Bob Flanagan provides hands-on ways you can grow your child's spirituality. Activities as simple as modeling godly behavior, joining your child in prayer, and encouraging your child to understand the Lord's Supper more deeply are explained in this easy-to-follow resource. A bonus section includes forty daily devotionals designed for you to use with your family during Lent. Growing a Soul will increase your child's SQ - and bring both of you closer to God. Bob Flanagan has been increasing the Spiritual Intelligence of children and teenagers for more than ten years. Currently he is School Minister at Brooks School, a New England, college preparatory high school, where he guides the spiritual growth of hundreds of students each year. Bob earned his master of divinity degree from the Virginia Theological Seminary. He has been married for more than twenty years and has two teenagers.

My name is Betty Steinhauer. I have no address. I own very little besides what I carry with me as I roam the streets. Just stuff bundled in 9-10 suitcases parked with friends across the world. For me, being homeless is part of a bigger plan. After being hit by a car several years ago not long after retiring, I had an epiphany. I realised that I had been on my own spiritual journey since my first visit to India in 1990. Since then, I have travelled to 155 countries, sometimes as a tourist, sometimes on business, sometimes for my charity. I have made friends all over the world. But, I still had unanswered questions. So, I decided to sell everything, pack up my life and travel the world with a difference. This time I would journey not as a tourist but as a traveller wanting to learn from every wise person who crossed my path, and every challenging situation I found myself in. I would document my learning from the people I interviewed across the world. And so was born my new book, In Search of Spiritual Intelligence.

Acknowledging and understanding spiritual formation is vital in contemporary education. This book explores the dynamic relationship between education and wellbeing. It examines the theory underpinning the practice of education in different societies where spirituality and care are believed to be at the heart of all educational experiences. The book recognizes that, regardless of the context or type of educational experience, education is a caring activity in which the development of the whole person - body, mind and spirit - is a central aim for teachers and educators in both formal and informal learning. The chapters in this handbook present and discuss topics that focus on spirituality as an integral part of human experience and, consequently, essential to educational programs which aim to address personal and communal identity, foster resilience, empathy and compassion, and promote meaning and connectedness.
