Excerpt from Excavations at Saqqara (1906-1907) The digging at Saqqara in the winter of 1 906-1907 began on October e7th and continued till the end of February; only a small and continually decreasing band of men were retained through the first fortnight of March. The previous season had left us two sites where work had to be continued and an accident drove us to a third, so that for part of the time there were three separate gangs at work.
