For the past several years many remarkable novels about the Vietnam War have appeared. But none has the epic power of THE FIRE DREAM, written by an author who himself fought in Vietnam and who has demonstrated a stunning mastery of the storyteller's art. There is Stuart, who believes that danger, no matter how terrifying, must never be avoided; Coles, who is torn between his pride as a black man and his desire to excel in the white man's Corps; Hunter, whose own inner demons may kill him before the enemy can; and Moser, who possesses an uncanny second sight into his combrades' destiny. They will be led through the nightmare of war by the hard driving Blackjack Beaurive, who will teach them the ultimate lesson: if men at war preserve their honour, their reward will be glory.

For thirty-five years, the New Orleans-based Black feminist collective Women With A Vision (WWAV) has fought for the liberation of their communities through reproductive justice, harm reduction, abolition feminism, racial justice, and sex workers' rights. In 2012, shortly after one of WWAV's biggest organizing victories, arsonists firebombed and destroyed its headquarters. Fire Dreams is an innovative collaboration between WWAV and Laura McTighe, who work in community to build a social movement ethnography of the organization’s post-arson rebirth. Rooting WWAV in the geography of the South and the living history of generations of Black feminist thinkers, McTighe and WWAV weave together stories from its founders’ pioneering work during the Black HIV/AIDS crisis in the 1980s and its groundbreaking organizing to end criminalization in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina---with other movements for liberation as accomplices. Together, the authors refuse the logics of racial capitalism and share WWAV’s own world-building knowledges, as well as their methods for living these Black feminist futures now. Fire Dreams is a vital toolkit for grassroots organizers, activist-scholars, and all those who dream to make the world otherwise.

“By turns funny, tragic, astute, and enlightening, [Dreams of Bread and Fire] is an engrossing coming-of-age tale.” —Library Journal, starred review Half Jewish, half Armenian Ani is desperately in love with a New England boy with a trust fund as big as his appetites, and the farthest thing possible from the Old World accents and superstitions that filled her childhood home. But after leaving for a year in Paris, she receives a letter from him ending their relationship. Embarking on a series of romantic misadventures, Ani soon reconnects with a childhood friend. Elusive and intriguing, Van Ardavanian is preoccupied with the Armenian heritage they share and provides Ani with a new connection to her identity—even as she begins to suspect that he has a secret, and dangerous, identity himself. The dark shadows of history surrounding Van propel Ani into a profound and passionate series of journeys: a quest for a long-dead father, a search for the clues of a nearly forgotten genocide, and a love threatened by a quietly gathering storm of murder and retribution. “Kricorian does for young women what James Joyce did for middle-aged men: She allows us to scramble safely amid the debris of new love, rejection, sex and identity.” —Susan Salter Reynolds, Los Angeles Times Book Review

Farris has the misfortune of being an elemental: born human but host to barely contained primal energies. He wants what any young person wants-the chance to live his own life. Yet the fiery forces within him make him a danger to those around him and a target for capture and study by the Science Guild. On the Lone Continent, humans thrive in their cities through the Guild's revolutionary technology while the forests are home to powerful wild magic. Farris must confront his fears-fear of capture, fear of the wild Fey in the woods, and above all, fear of his abilities-if he's to remain free.

Dreams are important messengers in the process of Self-Development. They can give you information about obstacles and suggest solutions such as new ways of thinking, feeling and acting in your life. Dreams can also tell you about the past, the present or the future. They may point out what to look for or which direction to take. A dream may also awaken us to spiritual experiences and higher states of consciousness. This book combines the interpretation of dream symbols and their relation to the physical body and the subtle anatomy of man. It also suggests simple meditative exercises related to dream symbols, the physical body and the chakras. Theories are exemplified by practical dream work and illustrated and enlivened with symbolism from, for example: science fiction movies, fantasy literature and dance (Argentine tango). The author’s inspiration and theory come from C. G. Jung, Jes Bertelsen, Wilhelm Reich and other body therapists, and from Bob Moore as the main spiritual teacher.
