The Strip is world famous and not only for the casinos, but also for the many things to see and do. Of course, a lot of what you can do here costs money, but there are a number of things to do that are free. This book is a self-guided tour, taking you step by step down the Strip to visit all of the notable free things to do. This excludes most of the photo opportunities, because the entire length of the strip is filled with places to take a photo of you, your friends and relatives. Only a few places of interest, directly in our travel path, are mentioned. Also, shopping sites have been excluded except for three unique stores of interest on the Strip. The trip begins at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign and ends in the downtown portion of Las Vegas Blvd. This is the old section of Las Vegas and is not considered a part of the Strip. I have included it to provide a complete Las Vegas experience.

The Las Vegas Strip is expensive. And since most people visiting the Strip have a limited budget, it is important to make your money stretch as far as it can. This is the reason for this book: to point out all of the things you can do on the Strip that are affordable. I have defined affordable as an activity that costs $25 or less. Above $25, there seems to be a jump to the low 30 dollar amount, and then ramping up to price tags that are outside of an average person's bankroll. There are many things you can do on the Strip for free, but I have already written extensively on the topic in my book Free Things To Do on the Las Vegas Strip: A Self-Guided Tour. This book serves as a companion guide, but it stands alone as a good guide for low-cost fun. There is also a bonus section: Eating for under $10If you're as old as I ma, you likely remember a time when you could eat cheap in Las Vegas. All the casinos wanted was your gambling dollars, and they would entice you with many attractive discounts. All that is gone. Today, they are trying to make money on everything. Most casinos are now charging for parking! Las Vegas doesn't want you to eat for under $10, but I have made it my mission to go up and down the Strip looking for the few possibilities that still exist. Use this section to plan a few of your meals in advance to save some of your cash for other things.

From the author: This is a follow up to my book, Free Things to Do on the Strip: a self-guided tour. The following are things to do that are off the Strip, away from the neon lights - well, at least most of it. Some of these things are free, and I have grouped them in the first section. Everything else will cost you money. However, I have only included those things to do off of the Strip that are reasonable in price. Most of these places are not too far from the Strip and can be easily reached by car. I have also tried to list prices and hours of these places, but you should always check the websites or call for current information. I have also included things for kids to do in Las Vegas. Kids can get bored quickly, and this city was not designed for them. There are a few arcades in some hotels, and there are pools for swimming when the weather is warm, but parents can run out of ideas to provide entertainment for their children quickly. Many of these destinations are suitable for families This book is illustrated with photos.

Let's face it. You can't gamble every minute of the day and night when you're in Las Vegas. Of course, there are plenty of shows you can see. Of course, there are usually a limited number of them you can because like most people, you come to Las Vegas on a budget. But this is one of the purposes of this book: to help people fill in some of their time in Vegas with many of the free things you can do. Of course, there are many people who don't like to gamble at all. But without gambling, you can spend a lot of time enjoying yourself with many of the attractions here. If you come to Las Vegas with a lot of money, you can do many fascinating things. Some of which cannot be found anywhere else in the world. But again, most people are on a budget, so even if you don't plan on gambling, the many free things to do that are listed in this book will stretch out your money. Or maybe you're coming to Las Vegas with friends, and you don't have much money to spend. You have enough money to eat and sleep, but after this, your bankroll is kind of thin. This book will show you all of the free things you can do in Las Vegas, and the most money you'll need to spend is $8 for a 24 hour bus pass. Not only are these attractions free, but they can be easily accessed by those arriving in Las Vegas without any transportation. Las Vegas does not go out of their way to advertise all of the things you can do for free, because they want you to spend lots of money. Naturally, they want you to gamble, this is their top source of revenue. But they also want you to spend money on shows and restaurants. In years past, this was more of a way to get people to come to Vegas and gamble, but today it is a part of their revenue. And they're trying to expand their sources of revenue wherever they can. Hotels are even charging people for parking now. But if you know what there is to do for free, you can see Las Vegas on a budget. This book is the ultimate guide to experiencing everything that Las Vegas has to offer that will cost you nothing. Not only will you learn about the free attractions on the Strip, but there is an entire section dedicated to free things you can see and do in Downtown Las Vegas. There is even a third section devoted to some of the interesting things to do for free that are both off the Strip and away from Downtown Las Vegas. So before you take your next trip to Las Vegas, explore the pages within this book, and think about seeing some of the free things described within the covers. It will help your budget, and you will enjoy your trip to Las Vegas much more once you see the many options available to you. Of course, if you are already in Las Vegas and find your funds drying up, you can purchase this book electronically and read it with a Kindle or other electronic device while you're in Las Vegas, so you will be able to find something to do for free. Most attractions described in the book have photos along with directions of how to get there and comments I make about each attraction.

When people think of Las Vegas, they are usually thinking about the Strip, but there is a whole other Las Vegas that can be experienced. This is called Downtown Las Vegas, or as it is sometimes called, old Las Vegas. Much of Downtown Las Vegas isn't so old anymore. Some of the buildings have been torn down, The Las Vegas Club is one example. Other buildings have been completely renovated, both inside and out. Some of these hotels may have new names you are not familiar with. In addition, there are new attractions that you may not know about. There has been a big effort by both the city and the casinos to develop the area, creating new and exciting attractions, and all of this was done while preserving the spirit of the Las Vegas of the past. Some of what you find here no longer exists on the Strip. This book tells you about all of the highlights in and around Downtown Las Vegas. You will learn about the new free Loop Shuttle that takes you around an outer loop to make it easy to get around. This shuttle service is free, and gives you an opportunity to see a lot more of Downtown Las Vegas while you are there. The heart of Downtown Las Vegas is Fremont Street, and it has become quite a spectacle. There is a lot to see by walking casually down this pedestrian only street. Many of the attractions in and around Downtown Las Vegas cost money, but there are many free things to do as well. All of the major things to do for free are covered. The highlights of the most unusual and popular places to eat are discussed. Generally speaking, the cost of everything is lower in Downtown Las Vegas than on the Strip, so your money will go further. You may choose to stay at a downtown hotel while in Las Vegas, but if you are staying on the Strip, it is easy to get here by car. And if you don't have transportation, this book explains exactly how to get there by bus. Things To Do In Downtown Las Vegas describes exactly what each attraction is and exactly where it is located. Hours of operation and admission prices are included when applicable. Web sites are also listed, so readers can find the latest information. There are photos found throughout the book for most of the places that are written about. Read this book, and begin planning your next trip to Vegas to include Downtown Las Vegas.
