Mary, a Rust Belt farm girl, the bastard child of an unwed, unconventional single mother, claws her way out of poverty and weds, but soon stumbles over the myth of monogamy. When her first husband, Don, dies, she seeks a more honest, equitable relationship, determined that her infant son, Billy, will not be a fatherless child as she was. The day before she leaves on a freighter for Greece, she meets Isaac in the East Village, and their romance blooms as they shuttle back and forth between Brooklyn and Crete. In addition to the distance between them, however, Mary must also take on Isaac’s conventional Jewish mother and all her beliefs about how and where they should live. Fatherless, Fearless, Female follows the international adventures of the dauntless Mary as she moves from a mob-operated strip joint in Chicago to the vineyards and villages of Crete, from art schools in New York and Jerusalem to the Imperial Iranian Air Force Base in Isfahan during the revolution of ’78. Along the way, she navigates through a maze of broken vows, broken families, and broken educational systems—and learns, at last, the value of love and the true meaning of her mother’s deathbed story.

Pennies were cut from circulation because they're too insignificant and some deadbeats don't even spend a cent of their kid. That infuriates Alex because he's the definition of daddy issues. He never had a dad while growing up so his mom struggled financially to support him and his brother Josh. She even had to work two jobs. It wasn't easy but she managed to raise two boys on her own. One parent was all Alex needed. He was raised with a good set of values and principals but a hatred for deadbeats manifested inside of him too. That's why he's respectful towards everybody that's not an absent parent. An elderly Native noticed Alex's kind heart so he picked the infidel over his own people. The Native stabbed Alex with a secret knife that was soaked in the blood of 100 deceased men. This gave Alex ghost-like powers. The burning desires of the spirts inside him made him feel like a haunted fire or a living graveyard. It's not illegal for people to walk out on their children so Alex decided to become the first law against deadbeats. Canadian winters are relentless and he wanted a ghost-themed suit so he decided to dress in white winterized clothes. That's why he wears snow boots, snow pants, a patted ski jacket and a toque. The snow acts like perfect camouflage for his white attire. He also wears white contacts because they make him appear undead. Alex became a social worker so now he has all the information about deadbeats on file. He's a social worker by day and a superhero by night but there's a catch, he only goes after absent parents instead of criminals. Deadbeat dads are afraid to get a visit from the ghostly conscience known as White Flame!

The hand we are dealt in life is beyond our control. The choices that we make is what truly makes the difference. Life is not always easy, but you need to believe that the journey is always worth it. Yes there will be tough times, Yes there will be depressing times, Yes there will be times when you feel like you do not have the energy to make it anymore, but how you respond to those unpleasant times will set you apart from everyone else. I know that growing up Fatherless or Motherless is not ideal for any child or any family; however, that is something that is beyond our control. Your focus needs to be on things that you do have control over. The only person you have control over is yourself. Trust me I know the emotional trauma you endured growing up in a single parent home. It was not always an easy task for me either but through it all I overcame the struggles. After the storm clears up the sun is there shining with such passion. God is with you every step of the way, through the good and the bad. So, I want every boy and girl, every man and woman to know that you are not alone. Success is on the other side of the struggles and obstacles.Look at me just a small-town girl from Greenville, SC with big city dreams. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Administration and Management. Also, I am the business owner of KidzFusion, which is a mobile kids’ fitness company. These are just a couple of my accomplishments and trust me my journey is far from over. I know it may sound a bit cliché, but it is the truth. I overcame so much on my journey and accomplished so many things along the way. My vision has always been clear. Now I want to give you advice from my perspective and experiences. To show you that you are not alone. To give you a support system within me and to guide you in whichever way I possibly can do so. Your blessing is at the top of that steep hill you must climb!

As a child, Madden lived a life of extravagance, from her exclusive private school to her equestrian trophies and designer shoe-brand name. But under the surface was a wild instability. The only child of parents continually battling drug and alcohol addictions, Madden confronted her environment alone. Facing a culture of assault and objectification, she found lifelines in the desperately loving friendships of fatherless girls. With unflinching honesty and lyrical prose, spanning from 1960s Hawai'i to the present-day struggle of a young woman mourning the loss of a father while unearthing truths that reframe her reality, Long Live the Tribe of Fatherless Girls is equal parts eulogy and love letter. It's a story about trauma and forgiveness, about families of blood and affinity, both lost and found, unmade and rebuilt, crooked and beautiful. “This groundbreaking work will give voice to an enormous population of women who are struggling to understand themselves in the face of their fathers’ absence.” —Claire Bidwell Smith, author of The Rules of Inheritance and After This When Motherless Daughters was published 20 years ago, it unleashed a tsunami of healing awareness. When Denna Babul and Karin Smithson couldn't find the equivalent book for fatherlessness, The Fatherless Daughter Project was born. The book will set fatherless women on the path to growth and fulfillment by helping them to understand how their loss has impacted their lives. A father is supposed to provide a sense of security and stability. Losing a father comes with particular costs that vary depending on the way he left and how old a girl was when she lost him. Drawing on interviews with over 5000 women who became fatherless due to death, divorce, neglect, and outright abandonment, the authors have found that fatherless daughters tend to push their emotions underground. These issues in turn become distinct patterns in their relationships as adult women and they often can't figure out why. Delivered with compassion and expertise, this book allows readers support and understanding they never had when they first needed it, and it encourages the conversation to continue.

"Father Hunger" is the emptiness experienced by women whose fathers were physically or emotionally absent—a void that leads to unrealistic body image, yo-yo dieting, food fears and disordered eating patterns. The term, which is now part of the psychology lexicon, originated with the first edition of this work in 1991. After having completed a decade's worth of further investigation, Dr. Maine has updated the information about men and their daughters in this second edition. She offers a new crash course on being a girl in today's culture, based on her expertise as a leading eating disorders prevention advocate. This edition describes the origins of father hunger and its effect on the family, with even more practical solutions to help fathers and daughters understand and improve their relationships. Also included is an expanded section for educators and therapists to help them more effectively prevent and treat the problems that occur between dads and daughters.
