The contributors to this book have spent time and effort presenting the cosmetic and plastic surgeon with information on the techniques and uses of liposuction for cosmetic and non-cosmetic surgery purposes. This constitutes the first book on cosmetic and non-cosmetic liposuction. It provides a how-to-do manual for all procedures of cosmetic and non-cosmetic liposuction and is abundantly illustrated. Although new technology helps improve results, it is experience, care, and skill of the cosmetic surgeon that is necessary to obtain optimal results that satisfy the patient.

Through nine outstanding editions, Rutherford's Vascular Surgery and Endovascular Therapy has been the gold standard text in this fast-changing, complex field. Published in association with the Society for Vascular Surgery, this state-of-the-art reference by Drs. Anton N. Sidawy and Bruce A. Perler is a must-have for vascular surgeons, interventionalists, vascular medicine specialists, and trainees, as well as general surgeons, interventional radiologists, and cardiologists that depend upon "Rutherford’s" in their practice. It offers authoritative guidance from the most respected and innovative global thought leaders and clinical and basic science experts in the diagnosis and treatment of circulatory disease. Incorporates medical, endovascular, and surgical treatment, as well as diagnostic techniques, decision making, and fundamental vascular biology. Features all vascular imaging techniques, offering a non-invasive evaluation of both the morphology and hemodynamics of the vascular system. Provides unparalleled insight from multidisciplinary leaders worldwide, who share their expertise on the most appropriate contemporary and future treatment of circulatory disease. Employs a full-color layout and images so you can view clinical and physical findings and operative techniques more vividly. Includes 40 new chapters incorporating a shorter, more focused format with a summary for each chapter that provides a quick access to key information – ideal for consultation situations as well as daily practice. Some of these chapters are organized in new sections dedicated to open operative exposure and vessel dissection techniques, diabetic foot, Pediatric Vascular Disease, and practice management issues; areas in the specialty that clinicians frequently face but seldom detailed in other vascular texts nor in earlier Rutherford editions. Covers hot topics such as endovascular therapy of aortic arch and thoracoabdominal aortic aneurysm disease, including the evolving management of aortic dissections.

Single and Two-Phase Flows on Chemical and Biomedical Engineering

Single and two-phase flows are ubiquitous in most natural process and engineering systems. Examples of systems or process include, packed bed reactors, either single phase or multiphase, absorber and adsorber separation columns, filter beds, plate heat exchangers, flow of viscoelastic fluids in polymer systems, or the enhanced recovery of oil, among others. In each case the flow plays a central role in determining the system or process behavior and performance. A better understanding of the underlying physical phenomena and the ability to describe the phenomena properly are both crucial to improving design, operation and control processes involving the flow of fluids, ensuring that they will be more efficient and cost effective. Expanding disciplines such as microfluidics and the simulation of complex flow physical systems, such as blood flow in physiological networks, also rely heavily on accurate predictions of fluid flow. Recent advances either in computational and experimental techniques are improving the existing knowledge of single and multiphase flows in engineering and physical systems of interest. This ebook is a review on the state-of-the-art and recent advances in critical areas of fluid mechanics and transport phenomena with respect to chemical and biomedical engineering applications.

Despite being a relatively straightforward clinical diagnosis, recognition of hidradenitis suppurativa (HS) is highly variable, and clinical management is challenging and complex. Written by the world’s leading experts in HS, A Comprehensive Guide to Hidradenitis Suppurativa brings together up-to-date scientific evidence on the diagnosis, patho-mechanisms, comorbidities, and multi-faceted medical and surgical interventions for this debilitating condition—in one convenient reference. Covers every aspect of this complex skin disorder: etiology, pathophysiology, epidemiology, medical, alternative therapies, a range of surgical options, laser treatments, and comorbidities. Discusses specific patient populations such as children, women of childbearing potential, and pregnant and breastfeeding women. Because HS has higher prevalence in people of skin of color, this patient population is well-documented in the text. Offers insights into multi-disciplinary care, patient support and education, patients at risk for rapid disease progression, and clinical and translational research. Features procedural videos covering laser therapies, de-roofing procedures, excisions and closure techniques, cryoinsufflation techniques, and special wound care material selection and techniques. Includes recent FDA-approved drugs as well as those drugs and therapies that show future promise. Identifies evidence gaps that provide a springboard to the future innovations in HS care to come. Edited and authored by global experts who have co-authored 2019 U.S. and Canadian guidelines on hidradenitis suppurativa.
