Few among them have been blessed with riches, in the modern sense of the term, although many have had a handsome competency. It may not be ascribed to vanity to add, that they have been distinguished for integrity and uprightness of character: - upon no one has the process of criminal law ever been served, and no one, it is believed, has been imprisoned for debt. The labor and difficulty of collecting and arranging the genealogical statistics of a family of two hundred years growth, can be estimated only by those who have had experience in undertakings of this kind.
