In the continuing tradition of bestselling author V.C. Andrews, The Unwelcomed Child explores the eternal question: Why do the ones we love hurt us the most? Desperate to be a normal teenager, beautiful young Elle Edwards must uncover the truth of her birth to find the familial love she craves. MY MOTHER HAD LOOKED INTO THE FACE OF EVIL SO MANY TIMES SHE KNEW WHAT IT WAS. IT WAS ME. I WAS BORN WITHOUT A SOUL. . . . An edgy new novel from the author who shocked a generation with her groundbreaking Flowers in the Attic saga, The Unwelcomed Child is V.C. Andrews at her surprising, sensual, and unforgettable best. Elle Edwards grew up believing that because of her mother's sinful ways she was born without a soul, and that's why she was abandoned to the care of Grandmother Myra and Grandfather Prescott. Raised in a virtual prison to ensure that her inherent evil will not taint her vigilant guardians, Elle's days are occupied with homeschooling, strict religious studies, and vigorous housekeeping in the devout couple's upstate New York home. Elle knows practically nothing of the outside world, even as she emerges as a young woman with impressive artistic talent. Myra's strict prohibitions are immovable, but Prescott acknowledges Elle's special gifts, and gradually persuades Myra to allow the girl some time outdoors to sketch from nature. But when she makes a secret, forbidden connection to vacationers at the nearby lake--a handsome boy and his precocious twin sister--Elle's world will shatter as her past meets her present. Will learning the truth about her mother send her plummeting to hell? Maybe some discoveries are forbidden for a reason . . . and maybe Elle will wish she never knew why she has always been The Unwelcomed Child.

The events in this book each and every one of us have gone, are going, or will go through at least one of these hardships in a lifetime. Maybe right at this moment you know someone who has or is going through one of these events. To some these events are small; they've gotten past them with no problem or interruption in their lives. Yet on the other hand, there are those who just cannot handle any kind of crisis in their lives. You know them; they are the ones who get upset over anything small or big making them have to change their way of thinking or living. When these events do come into our lives, we want to blame others whether they are friend or family for what have happen to us. The sad part we even blame God. Nor family, friend, or God had anything to do with our situation. It is hard for us to admit we did anything wrong. In the field of therapy, they call this denial, not wanting to admit doing anything on our part causing all this hardship. The mind reminisce all events having taken place causing this perfect world to turn upside down. No where can the mind fine fault in itself. Therefore it starts to point fingers at anyone, or anything to put the blame on. Until we come to peace with the situation at hand, there's no way we will ever have harmony with ourselves or others. This is where the love of God comes in. Give God all the Glory an Praise, and turn your burdens over to him. Through prayer God can handle any crisis that may or has come into our life. There are two things God put into our heart to help us get through this: Love and Forgiveness. Amen

A fresh look at the Bible reveals a richness of insight about sex and sexuality For some people, the Bible s perspectives on sex may seem too one-dimensional or antiquated to apply to modern-day life. Others may hold up the Bible as the ultimate moral guideline when it comes to sex and human sexuality. A close reading of the Bible reveals that while its rules and lessons about sex and sexuality may not be applicable to all people at all times, this sacred scripture does offer surprising insight into our modern sexual lives. This intriguing guide demystifies the Bible, synthesizing basic historical, theological, literary and linguistic ideas about the Bible s texts with our modern attitudes about sex. Thoughtful new translation and provocative commentary bridge the divide between biblical authority and our present-day views on gender roles, marriage, sexual orientation, virginity, lust and sexual pleasure. Drawing from Hebrew and Christian scripture, it examines the ways that the language of religion and the language of sex intersect. Now you can discover what the Bible says about sex with no previous background in theology or religious history. This SkyLight Illuminations edition offers insightful and engaging commentary that explains the historical context and religious worldviews of those who wrote the Bible as well as the role their perspectives play in current social debates. You will be encouraged to form your own opinion about what the Bible has to say about sex and gain a deeper understanding of your own sexuality.

James Daniel Nelson first hit the streets as a teenager in 1992. He joined a clutch of runaways and misfits who camped out together in a squat under a Portland bridge. Within a few months the group—they called themselves a "family"—was arrested for a string of violent murders. While Nelson sat in prison, the society he had helped form grew into a national phenomenon. Street families spread to every city from New York to San Francisco, and to many small towns in between, bringing violence with them. In 2003, almost eleven years after his original murder, Nelson, now called "Thantos", got out of prison, returned to Portland, created a new street family, and killed once more. Twelve family members were arrested along with him. Rene Denfeld spent over a decade following the evolution of street family culture. She discovered that, contrary to popular belief, the majority of these teenagers hail from loving middle-class homes. Yet they have left those homes to form insular communities with cultish hierarchies, codes of behavior, languages, quasireligions, and harsh rules. She reveals the extremes to which desperate teenagers will go in their search for a sense of community, and builds a persuasive and troubling case that street families have grown among us into a dark reversal of the American ideal.
