Medical educators are becoming increasingly aware of the important role that residents play in teaching both students and patients. This important program -- a comprehensive manual and accompanying videotape -- effectively increases residents' capacity to teach and learn in clinical settings. It emphasizes practical skills and does not require special equipment, high technology, or special settings. Best utilized as part of the regular schedule of resident conferences throughout the year, this program encourages the practice of teaching skills in the everyday flow of interactions among patients, students, and residents in both in-patient and out-patient clinical settings.
