A Complete Guide to Substitute Teaching How to Find Work, How to Get Paid Top Dollars Before having my first born I worked at a daycare for five years, I have an associate degree in psychology. After my son was born, I decided to stay home for a few years; I decided it was time for me to get back to work. But instead of going back to daycare job, I decided to become a substitute teacher and teach whenever I wanted. I didn't want a full-time job and a full-time commitment at first, I just wanted to see how it would feel to get back into the workforce without having to commit myself full time to anything. After some research, my heart was set on becoming a substitute teacher. That was nine long years ago, looking back now I think that was one of the best decisions I have ever made. I love my freedom; I love the fact that I can work when I want to and don't have a load of responsibilities. But most of all I enjoy being around children, it makes me happy. In last three years, I came across many people most of whom always asked the same question, every one of them wanted to know how to be a teacher like me. Through our local church, I started to hold a few seminars teaching people all about substitute teaching jobs. Recently my husband is the one who suggested that I should write a book about it and this way I can help many more than just a handful I meet via those seminars. So this book is the direct result of that wonderful advice my loving husband gave me and I think, if this book can help just one person become a teacher then I will consider my book is a success. That was my life story in a nutshell, but I know you are not interested in my life story but your own. In This Book You Will Learn: What Qualification you will need Advantages of being a sub teacher Disadvantages of being a sub teacher 3 Question to consider about becoming a Sub teacher 7 proven strategies to be a successful teacher What grade to teach How to find steady work How to market and promote yourself 16 tips to be a great at teaching Skills you need to be successful 10 tested strategies that can make you the best substitute teacher 10 tips on how to effectively manage students Classroom managements How to use active learning 5 tips to keeping your students engage How to become a full-time teacher Additionally 3 vital tools at the end of book Sample introduction letter to schools A complete Checklist for your classroom Sample recommendation letter I wish you the best of luck; I know if you love kids you will love being a teacher.

Substitute Teaching and Loving It, is a "must have" for every substitute teacher or new teacher. Not only does it include quality information for a successful substitute day, but also provides reproducible lessons that meet STATE AND NATIONAL STANDARDS. In the past, substitute teachers have often been regarded as babysitters; to fill an absent teacher's position for a day, week, or even longer. Today, there is an increasing demand for teachers to attend staff development and unit planning workshops. However, it is still critical that students are actively engaged in learning, when a substitute is in the classroom. Books, such as this, in addition to educational workshops and classes, will help substitutes understand classroom practices, school routines, behavior management strategies, curriculum expectations, plus much more. This book will give substitutes an objective look at education in today's schools and what is expected to happen in the classroom. With increased accountability, substitutes become increasingly important in our efforts to ensure students meet high standards. We appreciate and value their efforts in contributing to our student's success. This resource manual is a valuable resource in achieving that aim.
