This dissertation studies the communication technologies in relaying systems with multiple antennas, especially in the multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) two-way relaying systems. Both information-theoretic aspects and practical communication strategies are considered and analyzed. For the information-theoretic analysis, an analytical framework for the coverage of MIMO relaying systems based on an outage capacity criterion is proposed. For MIMO two-way relaying systems, different data combining schemes at the relay are compared based on their achievable rates. In addition, optimal time-division (TD) strategies for MIMO two-way decode-and-forward (DF) relaying systems are proposed and analyzed. When the optimal TD strategies are applied, the increase of the achievable rate regions in the system is significant compared to those using the equal TD strategy. For the practical transmission schemes, we propose the self-interference (SI) aided channel estimation and data detection schemes for the broadcast phase of two-way DF relaying systems. Such schemes exploit the SI in two-way DF relaying systems when the superposition coding (SPC) scheme is applied. When the network coding scheme is applied in two-way DF relaying systems, we propose an asymmetric data rate transmission scheme that utilizes the known data bits at the receivers. Such a scheme exploits the a priori known bits at the weak link receiver in the broadcast phase of two-way relaying systems.

An examination of the varied paths of the American inter-city bus industry from its origins in the second decade of the 20th century to deregulation in 1982. This sector of transport has been much neglected by historians and this book seeks to uncover a range of useful and pertinent information to those who are interested in understanding entrepreneurial endeavours, patterns of mobility and consumer attitudes. It analyzes the development of the national industry, probes the growth of particular companies and investigates specific aspects of business behaviour. The work is presented as a series of focused essays which offer insights into such topics as regulation, marketing, gender patterns and intermodal competition. It draws on diverse archival materials, government surveys and findings, trade publications, interviews and photographs. A wide-ranging bibliographical essay offers a guide to available sources.

A positive financial market and real sector developments support Ireland's capacity to exit the EU-IMF supported program at year's end. But the underlying fiscal and financial situation is still difficult, and continued strong policy execution remains paramount. Improvement in dealing with nonperforming loans and preventing a rise in structural unemployment is critical to strengthen prospects for recovery. Ireland’s strong track record of budget execution must be maintained, and building on the recent strengthening of the medium-term budget framework will support a durable exit.

Harness the planet’s most numerous resources with this comprehensive guide Microorganisms constitute the invisible majority of all living creatures on Earth. They are found virtually everywhere on the planet, including environments too extreme for any larger organisms to exist. They form a hugely significant resource whose potential value for human society cannot be overlooked. The creation of microorganism-based bioreactors for the industrial production of valuable biomolecules has the potential to revolutionize a range of industries and fields. Microbial Bioreactors for Industrial Molecules provides a comprehensive introduction to these bioresources. It covers all potential approaches to the use of microbial technology and the production of high-value biomolecules for the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and agricultural industries, among others. The book’s rigorous detail and global, holistic approach to harnessing the power of the planetary microbiome make it an invaluable introduction to this growing area of research and production. Readers will also find: Detailed coverage of basic, applied, biosynthetic, and translational approaches to the use of microbial technology Discussion of industrially produced microbe-borne enzymes including invertase, lipase, keratinase, protease, and more Approaches for using microbial bioreactors to generate biofuels Microbial Bioreactors for Industrial Molecules is essential for scientists and researchers in microbiology and biotechnology, as well as for professionals in the biotech industries and graduate students studying the applications of the life sciences.
