Maybe the Global Village metaphor has never been more accurate than it is today, where societies join forces in the fight against the COVID 19 pandemic, in a global coordinated effort, possibly never tested before in the known history of Humankind. Although we are sure that in the past some other shared demands have united the different peoples of the world, this has never been so strongly necessary, mainly in what the global scientific community is concerned. This is a fight for the survival of a society. However, we should not lose sight of what we are fighting for. We fight together for people. Not just for the abstract value of Human life, but for life in society as a whole, including its moral and ethical aspects. The topics of this book are based on this claim, on what makes it possible. We do not build our lives in a vacuum, or in distant Invisible Cities, but through a higher value, which represents physical life in society: the City, built by the discipline of Urbanism. This book is a spin-off of the International Research Seminar on Urbanism_SIIU2020. Inspired by the contents of twelve research seminars, a group of researchers from the universities of Barcelona, Lisbon and São Paulo discuss the contemporary agenda of research in Urbanism. Following the conference, a selection of 35 original double-blind peer-reviewed research papers were brought together with different perspectives about such an agenda.

Historia nacional, personalidad y sus interacciones de esto trata este libro. La pregunta que les hago a través de todo el libro es ¿puede el individuo escapar fácilmente de su contexto histórico, socioeconómico y actuar como si hubiese nacido en otro país? Algunos asocian la manera der ser de los individuos con su herencia familiar. Pocos ven conexión de la personalidad con su contexto histórico e historia. Este tipo de personalidad ha sido descrito anteriormente por otros psiquiatras y psicólogos ampliamente en la literatura mundial, pero nunca en Puerto Rico. Este tipo de personalidad se desarrolla en el individuo a consecuencia de vivir prolongadamente en las distintas colonias que se reconocen internacionalmente. La definición de una colonia utilizada en este libro es la que oficialmente utiliza la Organización de las Naciones Unidas (ONU) en su Comité de Descolonización. El libro intenta corregir vacíos y deficiencias de información en relación al situación objetiva de Puerto Rico y los puertorriqueños. En relación a Puerto Rico, en 1952 la ONU sacó incorrectamente a Puerto Rico de su listado de colonias. Esta decisión fue incorrecta, pues con la creación del Estado Libre Asociado, conocido en los EEUU como "Commonwealth of Puerto Rico", el título de propiedad de Puerto Rico todavía reside en los EEUU, según el Tratado de París de 1898. Desde entonces y hasta el presente, Puerto Rico es gobernado mediante decretos de los presidentes y leyes elaboradas en el Congreso de los EEUU. Esta admisión de hechos está oficialmente descrita en el informe del presidente Obama de 2011. En Noviembre 6 del 2012 se celebrará un plebiscito sobre el "status" de las relaciones con los EEUU. El autor describe en su libro cómo la personalidad colonizada en los puertorriqueños influenciará y decidirá la elección plebiscitaria en Puerto Rico.

This is a study of one of the leading politicians of Independent Mexico, Jose Maria Tornel y Mendivil, whose loyalty to Santa Anna and whose skills as a writer led him to play a crucial role in enabling the caudillo's repeated rise to power during this period. This first biography of Tornel in English provides a new insight into the political thought of the santanistas and the ways in which Santa Anna was able to return to power time and again in spite of the fact that he was deemed responsible for such major national disasters as the Texas campaign of 1836 and the 1847 defeat against the United States. A close analysis of Tornel's own political evolution, from advocating a radical federalist agenda in the 1820s to defending reactionary dictatorship in the 1850s, illustrates the extent to which the santanistas' policies changed as the hopeful, early 1820s degenerated into the despair of the late 1840s. As the leading ideologue of the santanistas, a study of his politics, paying close attention to the way they evolved in response to the different crises Mexico underwent, highlights, for the first time, the extent to which Santa Anna and his followers upheld a particular political agenda which was essentially populist, militaristic, antipolitics, and nationalistic, and varied depending on the prevailing circumstances and the different historical contexts in which it surfaced. A study of Tornel's activities as Santa Anna's main informer in the capital, his leading propagandist, and as a key player in the orchestration of revolts such as the 1834 Plan of Cuernavaca, serves to show the extent to which Santa Anna's success relied on Tornel's services. Coincidentally or not, without Tornel, Santa Anna was not able to return to power after his fall in 1855.
