Dear Comrade: Your having asked me to contribute a sketch of the operations of the company of Lee's sharpshooters which I had the honor to command, it affords me much pleasure to comply with your request, and the more so because you grant the esteemed privilege of incorporating in my contribution the letters of the correspondent of the London Morning Herald, cantaining an account of the battles of the Wilderness and of Spottsylvania, as witnessed by the correspondent with Gen.
