Accounts of women's transgressive behavior in eighteenth-century literature and social documents have much to teach us about constructions of femininity during the period often identified as having formed our society's gender norms. Lewd and Notorious explores the eighteenth century's shadows, inhabited by marginal women of many kinds and degrees of contrariness. The reader meets Laetitia Pilkington, whose sexual indiscretions caused her to fall from social and literary grace to become an articulate memoirist of personal scandal, and Elizabeth Brownrigg, who tortured and starved her young servants, propelling herself to an infamy comparable to Susan Smith's or Myra Hindley's. More awful women wait between these covers to teach us about society's reception (and construction) of their debauchery and dangerousness. The authors draw upon a rich range of contemporary texts to illuminate the lives of these women. Astute analysis of literary, legal, evangelical, epistolary, and political documents provides an understanding of 1700s womanhood. From lusty old maids to murderous mistresses, the characters who exemplify this period's vision of women on the edge are essential acquaintances for anyone wishing to understand the development and ramifications of conceptions of femininity.

In addition to thin concepts like the good, the bad and the ugly, our evaluative thought and talk appeals to thick concepts like the lewd and the rude, the selfish and the cruel, the courageous and the kind -- concepts that somehow combine evaluation and non-evaluative description. Thick concepts are almost universally assumed to be inherently evaluative in content, and many philosophers claimed them to have deep and distinctive significance in ethics and metaethics. In this first book-length treatment of thick concepts, Pekka Väyrynen argues that all this is mistaken. Through detailed attention to the language of thick concepts, he defends a novel theory on which the relationship between thick words and evaluation is best explained by general conversational and pragmatic norms. Drawing on general principles in philosophy of language, he argues that many prominent features of thick words and concepts can be explained by general factors that have nothing in particular to do with being evaluative. If evaluation is not essential to the sort of thinking we do with thick concepts, claims for the deep and distinctive significance of the thick are undermined. The Lewd, the Rude and the Nasty is a fresh and innovative treatment of an important topic in moral philosophy and sets a new agenda for future work. It will be essential reading to anyone interested in the analysis and the broader philosophical significance of evaluative and normative language. "Väyrynen presents an extremely well researched, highly innovative, and yet very careful and highly polished treatment of an extremely hot area in philosophy. The book is tightly argued but engagingly written. I would hold it up as a model philosophy monograph. There is no doubt in my mind whatsoever that this book will be widely influential and admired. Indeed, it could easily become a classic." - Brad Hooker, University of Reading "For the past few decades thick concepts have received much attention in metaethical discussions, but Väyrynen's book is the first comprehensive treatment of the subject. Väyrynen skillfully uses tools from philosophy of language in order to sharpen and advance the discussion of thick concepts. The book will be essential reading not only to anyone interested in the specific topic of thick concepts but also to anyone who is concerned with the analysis of normative language generally. It is a very good paradigm of linguistically informed metaethics." - Matti Eklund, Cornell University

Welcome to Fore the Play: A foreplay-only module from Lewd Dungeon Adventures. Every year, The Unbound Domain’s most famous acting troupe travels to Kegel Palace to put on a play for Emperor Geo Crapflare. This year, their play is a reenactment of the great mage battle between Hulum the Hurricane and Aderick the All-Powerful that decimated Darkwell. Hulum is being played by The Meridian Storyteller’s lead actor, an elven heartthrob named Wranven Fargleam, who decided to research his part by visiting Hulum’s old abandoned home, known as The Tower of Watery Illusions. Weeks passed, and the members of The Meridian Storytellers became nervous that something might have happened to the actor, so they sought out the help of the emperor to send someone after him. The small squad dispatched to investigate the tower also did not return. Emperor Geo now fears something more nefarious may be afoot and wishes to hire you to rescue Wranven and find out why no one who visits the tower ever returns. This module requires the following prop: Low-temperature candles for body wax dripping

In the sixteenth century and seventeenth centuries it was women who were almost exclusively persecuted as witches. However, the witch craze has been subjected to surprisingly little feminist analysis. In Lewd Women and Wicked Witches, Marianne Hester reviews and develops revolutionary feminist thinking. Accordingly, she shows how witches can be seen as victims of the oppression of a male dominated society. Concentrating on English source material, the author shows how witch-hunts may be seen as an historically specific example of male dominance. Relying on an eroticised construct of women's inferiority, they were part of the ongoing attempt by men to maintain their power over women.

Welcome to Lewd Dungeon Adventures, an adult role-playing game for couples. The city of Evershade was once the pinnacle of arcane knowledge and magical prowess, a place where the greatest mages gathered to weave spells of immense sexual power. Centuries ago, a cataclysmic event caused by the creation of a powerful artifact, the Ultimate Dildo 9000, led to the city’s downfall. The artifact, a glass dildo that magically reshapes to fit the user’s preferred orifice for ultimate pleasure, was fractured into three pieces during the disaster. The devastation was so great that it caused the city to fall into ruin and become lost to the outside world. In the present day, the ruins of Evershade have become nothing more than a legend whispered among scholars and treasure hunters. Hidden within the Foreverwood Forest, the city waits, its powerful magic dormant but not extinguished. Rumors have emerged of a mad sorceress who has taken up residence within the ruins, seeking to harness the power of the Ultimate Dildo 9000 and twist it for nefarious purposes. The Hero is approached by a cloaked figure who reveals themselves to be a scholar of sexual arcane history. They have spent their life researching Evershade and have finally discovered its location. However, they need a Cummancer to navigate the forest, overcome the city’s defenses, and retrieve the pieces of the Ultimate Dildo 9000 before it falls into the mad sorceress’ hands. This module features two different areas, so it can be split into two sessions, contains a drinking game, a cocktail recipe, and 5 Special Scenarios. This adventure requires the following props: • Tokens (this could be pocket change, poker chips, or any identical game pieces) • A cock ring, if the Hero is male, or a nipple erector set, if the Hero is female. • A ball gag • A blindfold • Something to bind the hands • A glass dildo
