Excerpt from Louisiana Conservationist, Vol. 9: December, 1957 It has been estimated that hunting and fishing is a billion dollar business in Loni siana each year. That amazing figure is arrived at by estimating the amount of money spent by hunters and fishermen in the pursuit of their sport - for guns, shells, fishing tackle, equipment, gasoline, food, clothing, lodging, guides, licenses, etc. So you see hunting and fishing do play important roles in the economic health of our state and the recreation of our people. But who can measure the true value of a rabbit by the cost of the shell in the shotgun? How can the sight of a wild turkey be evaluated in terms of the price of the film used to record the scene? And when can the melodious whistle of the bobwhite be replaced by canned music on a radio? About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books. Find more at www.forgottenbooks.com This book is a reproduction of an important historical work. Forgotten Books uses state-of-the-art technology to digitally reconstruct the work, preserving the original format whilst repairing imperfections present in the aged copy. Excerpt from Louisiana Conservationist, Vol. 9: January 1957 We sat and looked at each other and I believe to this day my friend wanted me to say let's get outta here as bad as I wanted him to. Neither uttered this wise thing so we put on raincoats and went to casting while the thunder rolled, the lightning flashed and the rain came pelting down. Excerpt from Louisiana Conservationist, Vol. 9: July-August, 1957 In the last five or six years, the trend has been to smaller bass lures. With their advent came longer and lighter casting rods that would enable the fisherman to cast these smaller lightweight lures. The reels have also been modified so that they are lighter. In place of heavy brass or steel gears, they are now being made of nylon. In place of the conventional wide spool, what was once considered a tournament reel is now standard equipment in most places. The narrow spools provide more speed in casting. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
