We see that this effort failed, because these records and this vision of the revealed will of God were still written and preserved. His work was able to continue while he was yet a prisoner and proved to be some of the most important work he would perform for the Lord.It was there, on the Lord's day, while John was absorbed with the spirit of God, that he suddenly heard a great voice, as of a trumpet. This thunderous voice was not Jesus Christ, but an angel, speaking in the first person for the Lord.Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and what thou seest, write in a book and send it unto the seven churches which are in Asia...(Rev. 1:11) It was the beginning of a glorious vision that was to be preserved, to come forth in these last days so that we might interpret for our benefit the wills and mysteries of God and assist us in preparing ourselves for the second coming of Christ.
