Christian-Muslim dialogue grows increasingly important, but little is known about individual Muslim dialogical thinkers. Born in Palestine in 1921, Ismail al-Faruqi was a leading figure in the development of conversation and debate across faiths in North America in the second half of the twentieth century, and was actively engaged in inter-faith study and dialogue. Al-Faruqi founded the Islamic Studies programme at Temple University, Pennsylvania where several distinguished Muslim intellectuals have taught, such as Seyyid Hossein Nasr, Mahmoud Ayoub and Hasan Hanafi. Along with Kenneth Cragg and Wilfred Cantwell Smith, al-Faruqi was an active participant in Muslim-Christian dialogues in the 1970s and the 1980s. Charles Fletcher here presents the first study dedicated to Ismail al-Faruqi's theory and practice of interfaith dialogue. Analysing al-Faruqi's sometimes provocative ideas on the comparative study of religion, dialogue and practical engagement, the author provides an illuminating study of the life and thought of this important scholar. "Buddha-Bot" , a Buddhist chatbot, you can ask for advice in the Japanese Teraverse. Here, however, a fundamental media-scientific and theological question becomes apparent: How valid are religious acts in Metaverse? I will mainly refer to Catholic Christianity, as I have the most contact with it and a consideration of all religions would go beyond the scope of this work. In October 2021, one of the world's largest social media corporations changed its company name from Facebook to Meta. The background to this is the construction of a so-called metaverse: A new 3D digital internet world where we can work, meet friends, do other everyday things or even attend events and concerts. All from the comfort of our own sofa in the physical world. In the same year, Fortnite developer Epic Games also announced they would invest a billion dollars in a Metaverse project, and Microsoft is also working on an "enterprise meta". Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos is also fascinated by new digital 3D worlds. The metaverse is the "next big thing", the "next level of the internet". A metaverse (or cyberspace) today generally describes a global, virtual reality in which people can move and interact as (non-materialised) avatars within a (meta-)3D online space. The terms metaverse and also avatar were both first mentioned and significantly coined in the 1984 novel "Snow Crash" by Neal Stephenson. In the present, one reads again and again about "God has entered the metaverse" , "Metaverse Church is a Massive Hit During the Pandemic" or "Christians, Beware of the Metaverse".

Surveying theological literature produced in the Christian East from the first through the 20th century, Eastern Christianity in its Texts explores different theological themes (analytical and mystical), genres (epistles, treatises, and poetry), and milieux (Greek, Armenian, Western and Eastern Syriac, Russian and Romanian). The book illustrates the evolution of the Orthodox thought, how it influenced and was influenced by intellectual, social, and political environments. It demonstrates a theology in context, and yet displays consistency in the traditions spread through different epochs and countries. The book is divided in five parts, each standing for an epoch with distinct features: formation of the Christian identity in the era before Constantine, golden age of theology in the period of Late Antiquity, the pinnacle of erudism and mysticism in the eastern Middle Ages, wrestling with the Modernity imported from the West in the 18th-19th centuries, and finally theological polyphony in the 20th century.
