This Iowa Breeding Bird Atlas II (BBA II) is intended to provide a comprehensive look at the distribution and breeding evidence for Iowa’s breeding birds and document changes since the first atlas effort. These data were gathered during a five-year period and so represent a snapshot in time. This publication summarizes atlas findings through individual species accounts that also include basic information on each species’ status in Iowa along with their habitat, breeding dates, basic nesting information, and population changes as measured by the federal Breeding Bird Survey (Ziolkowski et al. 2010, U.S. Geological Survey 2020). Comparisons are also made to recent atlas efforts in surrounding states in an attempt to provide a regional context to Iowa’s findings.

The Birds of Michigan is a major publishing event. It is the first popular, comprehensive survey of Michigan's birds in over forty years. Some of the state's leading ornithologist-naturalists have provided species accounts for more than 400 birds seen in the state. These accounts cover current status, distribution, history, habitat, seasonal occurrence, and general North American (or worldwide) breeding and wintering ranges. All of the authors incorporate field observations from Michigan. The 200 species which nest in the state are depicted in 115 full-page color paintings produced especially for this volume by five of Michigan's best-known wildlife artists.

This is a comprehensive historical record of all free-ranging bird species known to be breeding in Georgia around the beginning of the new millennium. The atlas profiles 182 species, from the sociable House Wren to the secretive Black Rail; from the thriving Red-shouldered Hawk to the threatened Wilson's Plover. The atlas is the result of a systematic survey conducted from 1994 to 2001, the massive collaborative effort of several private organizations, public agencies, and many individuals. It offers a wealth of information critical to bird-conservation efforts and provides a baseline so that changes to species ranges, numbers, and other significant aspects of each species' status can be better understood. Each species account includes: Color photograph of the bird Information on the bird's habitat and life history, distribution, population trends, and conservation status. Details discussed include diet, nesting habits, life cycle of the young, predators, and interactions with humans. Color distribution map showing the state's six ecoregions and indicating possible, probable, and confirmed breeding Graphs showing population trends, when appropriate Also included are chapters on the survey methodology, results of the surveys, influence of the physical environments of the state on bird distribution, changes in the avifauna since European settlement, and bird conservation.
