In the summer of 1986, 21-year-old Susan Conroy left her family and friends and headed off to Calcutta, India -- alone -- to assist the Missionaries of Charity. Her goals for this journey were ambitious: "Work alongside Mother Teresa, actively trying to learn her ways of selfless love, devotion, and service". "Grow stronger in my faith". "Grow in appreciation for what I have been given". "Grow in concern for human life". "Carry through life all that I will learn, and share this with others". Now, in a one-of-a-kind, first-person account with never-before-published photographs, Susan Conroy takes you there. "This is a story about how 'all things are possible with God,'" she writes. "It is a treasury of the lessons of love that I learned from Mother Teresa and her beloved poorest of the poor." Book jacket.

"Come to Me" -- Matt 11:28 Jesus told us, "Come to Me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." His promise of rest begins with a gentle request - to come to Him. But where do we find him? How do we draw closer to Jesus? What does it mean for our lives? And what do we really find when we go to Him? Susan Conroy, author and well-known host of the popular EWTN television series Coming to Christ - the inspiration for this book -- will show how you can find Jesus in your life every day. Coming to Christ is a lot like sitting down with a good friend who, in words and pictures, shares her practical, uncomplicated examples of ways we can turn and return to God. Through personal stories, writings of the saints, and sacred scripture, Susan shows each of us not only why, but HOW, step by step, to come to Christ. Let us each take to heart Christ's invitation to "come to Me" and experience the rest we so desire.

Linda Schaefer began her career as a journalist for CNN in 1985 but found she couldn’t abandon her first love — photography. She met and photographed Mother Teresa for the first time on June 15, 1995, while on freelance assignment for The Georgia Bulletin, the newspaper for the Archdiocese of Atlanta. Less than two months later, Linda found herself in Calcutta, where she had the rare opportunity to document the work of Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity. Linda took thousands of photographs, and through this experience she began to feel that this work might be her calling in life. Linda attended both the beatification and the canonization of Mother Teresa, and she has returned to Calcutta twice in her quest to learn as much as possible about the saint and the work of the Missionaries of Charity. Through these experiences, Linda met and interviewed six of Mother Teresa’s closest friends, confidants, and coworkers in the vineyard of Christ. These interviews became the groundwork for Encountering Mother Teresa. This fascinating book includes more than 200 rare and never-before-seen photos of Mother Teresa and the Missionaries of Charity. Spanning decades, these photos provide a personal look at Mother Teresa and her enduring legacy. Most people likely know of Mother Teresa’s great faithfulness to God’s call as she started her ministry to the poor in Calcutta. But at the time, few knew that she had lost all sense of God's presence, love, and sometimes the assurance that God existed at all. Astonishingly, for 50 years, the saint's life was spent in what she called "the darkness." Yet, somehow Mother Teresa managed to get up every morning and say yes to God. And not only did she say yes, she came to accept the darkness, while also allowing a sense of humor and even playfulness to shine through. This book is a memoir of the author’s direct experiences with Mother Teresa during a trip to Calcutta in 1996 when she discovered that sense of humor first hand. It is also an extended reflection on the beloved saint’s “dark night of the soul” and what that might mean for spiritual seekers today.

This collection draws heavily from the core devotional strain in Miller’s poetry, offering what novelist Fenton Johnson described in his review of Iron Wheel as “the vision and experience of that place where dark merges seamlessly into light; the house and home of grace—unasked for and perhaps undeserved, but transformative all the same.” Framed by meditations on the beginnings and possible post-human ends of culture, the new poems reflect on the callings and limits of art in responding to desire, history, mortality, and injustice. Set in the American South, Wales, France, the Czech Republic, and Sudan, the poems address and invoke the divine.
