Father Murphy, an Irish priest in the city of Mallow, Cork, is the rector of Saint Timothy's Church contending with much more than the normal pastoral headaches. There is a murder in his church, a recalcitrant vestry that prefers meeting in the local bar, assorted criminals, a wealthy matriarch with her own church agenda, plus an attractive young church administrator who wants Father Murphy married off--to her! Murphy also contends with a police inspector who'd like the priest confined to the church confessional instead of solving crimes.

The effective detective faces his most challenging case yet. Operating from his new office at the abandoned Coatesville Dairy Queen, Marshall runs into a killer who wants to eliminate him.The case involved the strangulation murder of the wife of a high school basketball coach. Alexis Colson seemed to have enjoyed a happy marriage to Dexter Kirby. However Lexi has a past that has not passed. The police have no immediate clues or suspects. Dex with his teacher's salary cannot afford a high-priced investigator. Through a friend he hears about Mallow who is cheap and, well, supposedly effective. We cannot answer this question at the moment, or you would not have to read the book.Spoiler alert: the machine gives both chocolate and vanilla. ----------------------------John Osipowicz (Bio) As a youth, reading was my passion. Because of my love for literature I guess it was natural that I would gravitate to teaching English. I was married while I was in college and for financial reasons I sidetracked my teaching desire for a bit to go into advertising with the Chicago Tribune. There was some creativity possible there, but after a few months I was counting the bumps on the road as I traveled from client to client. An opportunity opened up at my old high school in Madison Wisconsin to teach. This was a long time ago. Being a full-time teacher, baseball coach, and yearbook adviser, I made the enormous salary of $5000. With one daughter already born and two more on the way for the next six years we barely survived financially. Still feeling the pinch monetarily, I decide to take a business venture to Philadelphia selling yearbooks. For one year as I sat in school offices waiting to talk to Principals, I discovered I was paying attention much more to the students than my sales pitch. So back I went into teaching and stayed there for the next thirty-four years. I knew now I was in the right field. When I retired after forty total years in teaching, I looked forward to freedom from getting up each morning at five A.M. However, that freedom came with a price--boredom. There was only so much TV I could watch. I decided to take up writing, and I've been doing that ever since The only real tragedy in my life is that two years ago our dog of seventeen years died. As people have told me the memory of a loved one never dies, and I have found this to be true. Cassandra is still alive in my brain. However, our cat, Hazel, at fourteen is still going strong. We (I) have overfed her, and truthfully when she goes outside she has been mistaken for a raccoon. We currently live in the Philadelphia countryside across from a horse farm.

As head of household for none other than Agatha Christie, Phyllida Bright finds her position includes polishing silver, serving luncheons…and drawing inspiration from the crime author’s fictional detectives when mysterious deaths at Mallowan Hall baffle her famous employer… Tucked away among Devon’s rolling green hills, Mallowan Hall combines the best of English tradition with the modern conveniences of 1930. Housekeeper Phyllida Bright manages the large household with an iron fist in her very elegant glove. In one respect, however, Mallowan Hall stands far apart from other picturesque country houses. For the manor is home to archaeologist Max Mallowan and his famous wife—Agatha Christie… Phyllida is both loyal to and protective of the crime writer, who is as much friend as employer. An aficionado of detective fiction, Phyllida has yet to find a gentleman in real life half as fascinating as Mrs. Agatha’s Belgian hero, Hercule Poirot. But though accustomed to murder and its methods as frequent topics of conversation, Phyllida is unprepared for the sight of a very real, very dead body on the library floor… It soon becomes clear that the victim arrived at Mallowan Hall under false pretenses during a weekend party. And when another dead body is discovered—this time, one of her housemaids—Phyllida decides to follow in M. Poirot’s footsteps to determine which of the Mallowans’ guests is the killer. Now only Phyllida’s wits will prevent her own story from coming to an abrupt end…

Rodger and Benjamin delve into the underworld of Tudor Britain... Conspiracy and murder combine to threaten Roger Shallot's own life in his fifth journal, The Gallows Murders, from acclaimed author Paul Doherty. Perfect for fans of Ellis Peters and Susannah Gregory. In the summer of 1523, the hot weather and the sweating sickness provide a fertile breeding ground for terrible murders and the most treasonable conspiracies. King Henry VIII has moved the court to Windsor where he slakes his lusts whilst the kingdom is governed by his first minister, Cardinal Wolsey. Someone is sending the King threatening letters from the Tower, under the name and seal of Edward, one of the princes supposedly murdered there, demanding that great amounts of gold be left in different parts of London. If the orders are not carried out, proclamations will be published throughout the capital which, coinciding with the outbreak of plague, may make it look as though the hand of God has turned against the Tudors for usurping the throne. Wolsey has only two people to turn to: his beloved nephew, Benjamin Daunbey, and Daunbey's faithful servant, Roger Shallot. Benjamin and Roger become embroiled in the murky Tudor underworld and the pressure to solve the mysteries mounts when King Henry threatens that Roger Shallot's life depends on it. What readers are saying about Paul Doherty: 'Light, light, light, but clever, clever, clever. And amusing. A relaxing afternoon's read!' 'Excellent book, kept me guessing 'til the end' 'Paul Doherty weaves a tangled web of murder and intrigue'
