In uenced by no partiality for any man or organization, he has endeavored to deal justly by all who acted prominent parts in and during the war, so far as his circumscribed limits would permit. If much has been Omitted which might rightfully claim a place in this book, great pains have been taken to make its history correct, so far as it goes, and to give credit where credit fairly belongs.
