In this book I am reliving memories of many families about the lives and times in the mid-Twentieth Century Mississippi Delta as I experienced them. Hopefully, these recollections can help readers recognize events and places that were integral to their own upbringing during these formative years. Or maybe inspire others to jog their own images of Delta life they remember. Read. Reflect. Laugh. Cry. Relive growing up in the Delta from your own perspective. Smile. The years just after World War II witnessed an idyllic era which packed explosive agricultural and industrial growth, and which provided a perfect small town atmosphere for raising families. But as more widespread integration was introduced in the '60's, many abrupt changes occurred in the area. Wealth shifted among families and races. Racially separated schools were consolidated. Some businesses prospered, many others shuttered their doors. Opportunities finally opened for some citizens just as they slammed shut for others. Growth in Queen City Greenville and other nearby enclaves peaked and then began to spiral downward. No matter where you live today, one truth still rings true, however. If you were born or raised as a child of the Delta, you will always be a proud child of the Delta.... a Delta Boy (or Girl).

It begins with the bloodied scene of a Burmese army base being overrun by the Kachin rebels and it ends with a painful suicide. In between, the over 350 pages long book vividly portrays the almost forgotten suffering of the people of Burma still under a brutal military dictatorship. The fictional story is largely based on, first, the author's childhood growing up as a boy cadet in a military boarding school run by Burmese Army, and later, his over a year stint as a boy soldier in a battalion of Burmese Northern Army in Kachin State. Most of the facts and events from the book are either based on the direct experiences of the author or the experiences of other soldiers from his battalion, then fighting a savage war against Kachin Independence Army, KIA, by the Chinese border, in the early seventies. Read this book. It will leave an unforgettable and sorrowful image of war-torn Burma in your mind .

Jeff Slaughter is known throughout the world for both his amazing passion in worship leadership and his awe-inspiring lyrics, estimated to have been sung by forty-six million children worldwide. Yet, what’s less known about Jeff Slaughter is the tough journey of heartbreak and loss, joy and victory that led him to a place where he could finally share his remarkable story. It’s All True reveals both the tragedy and triumph of Jeff Slaughter’s life. Readers will no doubt draw encouragement and great strength from the story of a man who, despite difficult circumstances, has always found God to be right there with amazing grace, seeing him and his family through all obstacles. When Jeff tells such stories as witnessing his fourteen-year-old niece’s tragic death at a family Labor Day picnic and the lost battles with cancer fought courageously by both his parents, the reader will feel his pain. Yet, the reader will also experience joy through the many humorous moments of Jeff’s life and the new path God has blazed for him. Through it all, some of his most touching and meaningful songs have come from those experiences, including the song entitled “It’s All True,” which has provided the theme for Jeff’s life.
