The inspiration for "Push Me to The Moon" came from her memories of her two grandchildren when playing on the swings with them. Push me higher led to asking what they saw, and her grandson saw the moon. She asked him to describe what he saw and then draw a picture which pushes him into a glorious realm of creativity and discovery. This book is illustrated around that picture and what he saw on the moon. The blank pages in Push Me to The Moon will, hopefully, encourage children to use art to create stories, inspire imagination and unlock artistic talent in young children. "I hope reading this book will encourage young children to have fun creating stories, inspire their imagination and bring out their artistic talent." -Linda Stacy

Fly Me to the Moon transports you to who your were when America took its first steps into space; the night you sat transfixed to the television as the crew of Apollo XI landed on the moon; the day you resolved to one day become an astronaut. Perhaps you were the 10-year-old kid who transformed a plain refrigerator box into a Mercury space capsule; or the resident of a small Texas community lighting celebratory Christmas Eve candles for your neighbors, the crew of Apollo VIII, or the musician saved from the ravages of drugs by one woman's historic voyage to the stars. For every Mercury, Gemini, Apollo and Shuttle voyage into outer space, there is an accompanying story. For every mission, there is the story of a starry-eyed child transformed into Alan Shepard, John Glenn, or Neil Armstrong. For every astronaut who braved weightlessness, the unknown, the perils of space flight, there is a grown up child wishing he or she could do the same. You'll remember you own youthful dreams during a bygone time in America when space flight bewitched us all and changed a generation.

I Met Him in the Blue Room of the Transoceanic Liner Harding the night of Mars Day—June 10, 1967. I had been wandering about the city for several hours prior to the sailing of the flier watching the celebration, dropping in at various places that I might see as much as possible of scenes that doubtless will never again be paralleled—a world gone mad with joy. There was only one vacant chair in the Blue Room and that at a small table at which he was already seated alone. I asked his permission and he graciously invited me to join him, rising as he did so, his face lighting with a smile that compelled my liking from the first. I had thought that Victory Day, which we had celebrated two months before, could never be eclipsed in point of mad national enthusiasm, but the announcement that had been made this day appeared to have had even a greater effect upon the minds and imaginations of the people...

The New York Times bestselling, “meticulously researched and absorbingly written” (The Washington Post) story of the trailblazers and the ordinary Americans on the front lines of the epic Apollo 11 moon mission. President John F. Kennedy astonished the world on May 25, 1961, when he announced to Congress that the United States should land a man on the Moon by 1970. No group was more surprised than the scientists and engineers at NASA, who suddenly had less than a decade to invent space travel. When Kennedy announced that goal, no one knew how to navigate to the Moon. No one knew how to build a rocket big enough to reach the Moon, or how to build a computer small enough (and powerful enough) to fly a spaceship there. No one knew what the surface of the Moon was like, or what astronauts could eat as they flew there. On the day of Kennedy’s historic speech, America had a total of fifteen minutes of spaceflight experience—with just five of those minutes outside the atmosphere. Russian dogs had more time in space than US astronauts. Over the next decade, more than 400,000 scientists, engineers, and factory workers would send twenty-four astronauts to the Moon. Each hour of space flight would require one million hours of work back on Earth to get America to the Moon on July 20, 1969. “A veteran space reporter with a vibrant touch—nearly every sentence has a fact, an insight, a colorful quote or part of a piquant anecdote” (The Wall Street Journal) and in One Giant Leap, Fishman has written the sweeping, definitive behind-the-scenes account of the furious race to complete one of mankind’s greatest achievements. It’s a story filled with surprises—from the item the astronauts almost forgot to take with them (the American flag), to the extraordinary impact Apollo would have back on Earth, and on the way we live today. From the research labs of MIT, where the eccentric and legendary pioneer Charles Draper created the tools to fly the Apollo spaceships, to the factories where dozens of women sewed spacesuits, parachutes, and even computer hardware by hand, Fishman captures the exceptional feats of these ordinary Americans. “It’s been 50 years since Neil Armstrong took that one small step. Fishman explains in dazzling form just how unbelievable it actually was” (Newsweek).

The move from the City to the Suburbs was a huge change, even though I was young when it happened. People in the suburbs were a lot different than the city and we as kids thought it was paradise. Boy were we wrong. Most people in this town are fake, corrupted, selfish, and overall ASSHOLES, in my opinion. A lot of politics I wont get into but you might see some of it. From the time I turned seventeen, to about twenty two, Ive gone threw some pretty interesting experiences. My life entailed robbing, stealing, fighting, drugs & drug dealing, alcohol, women, kidnapping, sports, and of course fighting. Ive had my ups and downs, arrested eleven times but never locked up, so I guess Im pretty lucky, or have a very good lawyer; just had a few over nighters in a holding cell. My family is very close and we chill together all the time. Id do anything for them, some not for me, but thats just the way they are. I guess they call me the crazy one, but honestly, every family needs someone like me. From my tales to tell, overall I wouldnt take any of it back. I love my life and how I lived it. I feel my past was lived to the fullest and my crew thugged it out for years. I know that most of the trouble I got into was because of the choices I made, and even then I knew that it was the wrong path to take, but I just didnt care. While these adventures where happening, I knew my life would be change for the better once I finished school and landed a good set job. Though it seemed like it took forever, I finally did finish school and became full time at the position Id been working at for a few years. That is when my life started. I enjoyed being young and dumb, as they say, but now its time to grow up and become a man. Ive gone through plenty of friends over the years, some lost due to changes schools or choosing different cliques in school, others lost on bad terms; sometimes I knew why and others I didnt understand. I lost a couple very close best friends and also gained new ones. Life is a struggle, I struggled through it but was able to surpass. I got through the tough times, enjoyed the memorable times, and here are my stories to tell. This book will deliver my resume of an uncontrolled substance that almost ruined my life. The rage and power I absorbed through fisting a persons face brought happiness to me. Every true street fighter will tell you theyve gotten their ass kicked at least once in their life, and probably didnt like it. I on the other hand loved it. The more I got hit the more aggressive I became, trying to destroy anything in my path. It became so much of an addiction that I looked for it all the time and even threw down with my own brother. I loved to fight and was pretty good at it but it almost got me killed a few times. My stories here are all true, but some names may have been altered for confidentiality purposes. In no way am I trying to disrespect anyone, past or present, because its a story about my life but a lot of others are involved as well. Overall, I have been in over fifty legit street fights, mostly in a five year range and these are the main tales. Other than fighting and the mischief Im actually a really nice person and a great athlete. My whole life has been based around sports and my entire family is athletes, including the girls. Though I pursued a sports career I still found myself living the Hip Hop lifestyle, which made me the person I am today. I speak mostly of the bad experiences rather than the good because everyone has their good moments and the awful times are the juiciest. I give a lot of credit to my parents for putting up with me all these years and I know what theyve done for me and I really do appreciate it. They are the best parents any kid can ever ask for, and to put them through what I did was a horrible thing to do, so Im truly sorry. Like the saying goes, what doesnt kill you only makes you stronger, I guess Im

In A Glimpse of Nothingness, celebrated mystery novelist Janwillem van de Wetering offers a sequel to his earlier memoir, The Empty Mirror, which concerned the author's experiences at a Zen monastery in Japan in the middle 1960s.
