Recently, through modern research techniques, we have learned some important aspects of taxonomy, ecology and biology of these animals; those findings revealed the role of sea turtles in their ecosystems, migratory patterns, habitat use and the main population hotspots and conservation units. This book aims to address the current situation on sea turtle research, to provide an overview of the newest tools and techniques for research, but at the same time provide key elements on management of sea turtles and how they can be used for conservation purposes. Through the detailed description of each technique and case studies that this book contains, students, researchers and academics can properly raise their research questions and experimental designs, which consequently enable them to obtain results comparable to those reported in studies from journals of high impact.

The majority of European Yiddish speaking Jews was murdered by Hitler's National Socialists, their cultural realm was destroyed. After the war, the Communist regimes suppressed Jewish culture, but despite emigration of Jewish survivors, small Jewish communities continued to exist and made efforts to revive their culture in most of the Communist countries. Jewish organizations, clubs, cultural societies and theatres were founded, and a great number of Yiddish books, newspapers and periodicals were printed, despite political pressure, hostility and persecution. The cultural activity which developed "under the red banner" cannot of course be compared to the immense impact the Yiddish culture experienced before the Second World War but it was an important phenomenon in Jewish history which remained uninvestigated for a long time and has not been described in a proper way until today. This volume of seventeen essays is a collection of papers delivered by scholars from the USA, Sweden, Israel, Germany and Poland at the conference on Yiddish Culture in the Communists Countries in the Postwar Era which was organized at the Jagiellonian University Cracow in cooperation with the University of Potsdam in November 2006.

Until 1998 Indonesia was ruled by an authoritarian regime under which natural resources were exploited excessively so that resources governance was not appropriate anymore dealing with sustainability issue. Throughout the contemporary reform process with the decentralization of power via local and regional autonomy, natural resources are no longer dominated by direct state power only, but also managed by more actors at various levels of society. To employ the concepts of political ecology, new institutionalism, livelihood strategy and social sustainability, the research showed that spatial production of Upland Bromo have always been dominated by state actors in order to establish the control over land and people. In the other hand, the contemporary environmental changes, socially and physically, coincidentally lessen the availability and productivity of the resources, which in turn has affected the local people's livelihoods, leading to the increasing struggle for resources. As a result, three kinds of new local resources governance, namely multi institutional relationship, bilateral institutional relationship and personal relationship based resources governance are formed. In association with the sustainability issue, these new local resources governance was not really sustainable signalling by negative value in indicators analysed; ability to develop sustainability, bridge the sustainability, and maintenance sustainability. This research gives clear explanation that transformation of regime from authoritarian to democratic in developing countries do not always has significance impact in promoting sustainable resources governance.
