Rob Rimes' largest work yet, Scalping Jackals covers the day-to-day developments of the 2012 presidential election cycle from the earliest moments of the Republican primary debates all the way through to the final result of the showdown between President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney. Deconstructing every event in this 18 month political journey from the point-of-view of an often times inebriated Ron Paul supporter, Rimes offers up the same hardcore commentary and insight he has been best known for in his previous books, as well as on his former blog TheSwash.com. A year and a half in the making and several thousand shots of bourbon later, Rob Rimes leaves you with his magnum opus - the story of a man going from trying to tame and overcome the failed political process to loathing it to the point of anarchistic disdain. Don't say that you haven't been warned; this isn't for the faint of heart or the overly sensitive and easily offended.

Jackals of Samarra was written in the period immediately preceding the Gulf War. It was just as contemporary then as it is now, as borne out by today's headlines of naval vessels falling victim to terrorist bombs. The Gulf region is a perpetual cauldron, ready to boil over at a moment's notice. The book sets up shop here and uses a scenario of fact and fiction that wends its way back and forth from the Middle East to the West. The plot employs surprise military attacks, espionage, blackmail, oil, and nuclear weapons to culminate in a gut-wrenching, unpredictable situation, with the Iranians catching the West off guard, as the world holds its collective breath. Though Jackals of Samarra is a work of fiction, it comes so uncomfortably close to being real that using a book marker at stopping points might not work too well. After reading the last sentence of Jackals… you might just feel relieved and lucky that it is only fiction. Then again you might not. See for yourself.

In 1888 Oswell Danford is living a hard but satisfying life as a rancher in Virginia when he receives an unexpected telegram. A wedding invitation should be cause to celebrate but not when it means he'll have to face past deeds that he's deeply ashamed of. Now he and his brother, along with their ex-compatriot, an inveterate gambler from New York, will have to travel to Montana Territory to settle an old score they'd nearly forgotten. They will join the expectant congregation at the church for the marriage of their former brother-in-arms. But while everyone else will be wishing a blissful future for the happy couple they will be praying the darkness from their past doesn't devour the entire town. A Congregation of Jackals is an unrelenting tale of betrayal and revenge told with a precision and brutality that will leave you breathless and haunted. Fans of Zahler's breakout hits Bone Tomahawk and Wraiths of the Broken Land will be floored by this, originally the first installment of his western horror trilogy.

NATIONAL BESTSELLER Written to commemorate the Bicentennial in 1976, James A. Michener’s magnificent saga of the West is an enthralling celebration of the frontier. Brimming with the glory of America’s past, the story of Colorado—the Centennial State—is manifested through its people: Lame Beaver, the Arapaho chieftain and warrior, and his Comanche and Pawnee enemies; Levi Zendt, fleeing with his child bride from the Amish country; the cowboy, Jim Lloyd, who falls in love with a wealthy and cultured Englishwoman, Charlotte Seccombe. In Centennial, trappers, traders, homesteaders, gold seekers, ranchers, and hunters are brought together in the dramatic conflicts that shape the destiny of the legendary West—and the entire country. BONUS: This edition includes an excerpt from James A. Michener's Hawaii. Praise for Centennial “A hell of a book . . . While he fascinates and engrosses, Michener also educates.”—Los Angeles Times “An engrossing book . . . imaginative and intricate . . . teeming with people and giving a marvelous sense of the land.”—The Plain Dealer “Michener is America’s best writer, and he proves it once again in Centennial. . . .
