Scattered Remnants is a story of Hope for all who have lost theirs. An unlikely Heroine and a strange old man join forces for good and begin a battle against the darkness that is trying to consume everyone it comes into contact with. As the story progresses you may find yourself drawn into the adventures with the characters. It is the first of a series and my hope is that it accomplishes what it was written for.

Making Nature Whole is a seminal volume that presents an in-depth history of the field of ecological restoration as it has developed in the United States over the last three decades. The authors draw from both published and unpublished sources, including archival materials and oral histories from early practitioners, to explore the development of the field and its importance to environmental management as well as to the larger environmental movement and our understanding of the world. Considering antecedents as varied as monastic gardens, the Scientific Revolution, and the emerging nature-awareness of nineteenth-century Romantics and Transcendentalists, Jordan and Lubick offer unique insight into the field's philosophical and theoretical underpinnings. They examine specifically the more recent history, including the story of those who first attempted to recreate natural ecosystems early in the 20th century, as well as those who over the past few decades have realized the value of this approach not only as a critical element in conservation but also as a context for negotiating the ever-changing relationship between humans and the natural environment. Making Nature Whole is a landmark contribution, providing context and history regarding a distinctive form of land management and giving readers a fascinating overview of the development of the field. It is essential reading for anyone interested in understanding where ecological restoration came from or where it might be going.

Old Testament Study Guide, Pt. 3: The Old Testament Prophets. This volume is the third of three on the Old Testament. This volume is an unusually large volume that includes nearly all of the Old Testament prophets, their teachings and warnings to their people, and their prophecies of the coming of the Messiah and the latter days. It covers the period of the Bible from the end of King Solomon?s reign through the end of the Old Testament, including the ministries of Jonah, Micah, Hosea, Amos, Joel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Esther, Daniel, Ezra, Haggai, Nehemiah, Zechariah, and Malachi (Elijah and Elisha were covered in Volume 8). We are taken from 826 BC to 430 BC, when the Old Testament closes. Then finally, we read of the Intertestamental Period between the ministry of Malachi and the rise of John the Baptist to open the New Testament. The cover features a classic painting of Daniel in the lion?s den, painted by Riviere in 1890.

The inspiration for Leo Tolstoy's famous "War and Peace", this translation of Ilya Timofeyevich Radozhitskii's memoirs includes vivid accounts of the battles of Ostrovno, Smolensk, Lubino (Valutina Gora), Borodino, Moscow, Vyazma and Krasnyi. The first of three volumes, this book represents the first English translation of the memoirs that rank among the best in the vast Napoleonic memoir literature. The author, Ilya Timofeyevich Radozhitskii, served with distinction during the wars against Napoleon and wrote down his reminisces shortly after the war based on the notes that he kept while campaigning. Born in 1788, Radozhitskii studied at the Imperial Orphanage, enlisted in the artillery unit in 1806, and steadily rose through the ranks, earning a reputation of a capable officer. Napoleon’s invasion of Russia in 1812 changed his life. Serving as an artillery lieutenant, he saw action in virtually every major battle of that historic campaign. Wounded at the battle of Ostrovno, he remained in ranks and later fought at Smolensk, Lubino (Valutina Gora) and Borodino, lamented the surrender of Moscow, and celebrated Russian victories at Vyazma and Krasnyi. He watched in bewilderment the catastrophe that engulfed Napoleon’s forces that winter, an event he vividly describes in his memoirs. Radozhitskii offers fresh insight into the life and daily experiences of Russian officers during the Napoleonic Wars. Starting in the summer of 1812 and following the travails of his unit over the next six months, Radozhitskii’s narrative contains striking descriptions of the wartime experiences of soldiers and officers, vivid accounts of the battles, and heartrending stories from the French retreat. When published in Russia, these memoirs garnered considerable public attention and Leo Tolstoy consulted them extensively while writing his famous “War and Peace”. The second and third volumes, entitled The German Liberation 1813 and The Invasion of France 1814, will also be published by Pen & Sword Books.
