I believe that fiction is an imaginative expression of truth; it follows that every truth can events and provoke a debate that tends to reform society. The author’s responsibility is to express himself in a language which does not offend a civilized society but one which causes it to think and act. Some of these stories might so surprise some readers, that the stories might appear more imaginary than imaginative. I can assure them that the basic element of such stories is true; they merely prove that truth is stranger than fiction. Whether you agree with the author or not it is certainly educative. Authors have a knack of casting a spell on you and attracting you to their point of view. Readers should step off from the author from time to time and reexamine author’s logic critically and decide for themselves. This is a collection of stories; therefore I am giving a brief idea of each story. Revenge: A girl did not believe the story of the death of her sister as narrated by her brother-in-law. The girl married him, discovered the cause of her sister’s death and punished him. Delayed punishment: An elderly person sexually abused a neighborhood poor girl of tender age as well as his own niece of the same age. The girls meet after their marriages and punish the culprit. A body’s lapse: Unable to withstand prolonged separation with her husband who went on active war duty, the wife had sex with his brother, although she loved her husband ardently. As soon as she learned that her husband was returning soon, she abandoned his brother telling him that she used him merely as a medicine. Mutual consent: An accident revealed that a Bank Manager had also been suffering from BP and diabetics and that he had to be under lifelong medication. His wife convinced a bank clerk to share life with her and her two children; she and her husband agreed to separate under that arrangement. Dramatic restoration: After reading the first few pages of a book a person began suspecting his wife; unable to suffer the humiliation, she attempted suicide but was saved by mutual friends. They restore her to her husband dramayically. Confession: An actor and brother of an MLA killed a person accidentally. The MLA influenced the police and got a beggar arrested for the crime. The actor surrendered to the police and got the beggar released. Jai Jagannadh! Adolescent infatuation brought a girl to a religious celebration of God Jagannadha. After marriage, she entirely dropped her adolescent affair from her memory. Asoka: After winning the Kalinga war, Asoka punished the surviving rebels cruelly by throwing them one by one into a cauldron containing boiling oil! When a Buddhist monk was thrown in, he surfaced unaffected and meditating in Padmasana. Sabari’s new version: A person remained faithful to his promise, irrespective of its absurdity. Stranger than fiction: For a girl under a strong sexual urge bordering on frenzy, death of her father earlier in the day did not seem to matter! Example of the elders: A girl saw her widowed mother having sex with another person; both were enjoying it. Unable to understand what they were doing, she tried and did the same with her friend. What a family: A mother overlooked serious lapses of her children but was cruel towards her daughters-in-law. The red ribbon: Two friends went on a sight-seeing trip. One of them was on a chase for women of easy virtue. One such person met and tried to entice the other friend who felt that she was a victim of circumstances and offered to marry her. She understood his naivety and left him before he woke up.

Life is too short to gain all knowledge by personal experience; one needs to learn from the experiences of others. The best way to do this is through books. A short story deals with an issue generally faced by us at different stages in life and interestingly shows how to tackle it. Whether you agree with the author or not it is certainly educative. Stories may be short but their impact would continue to reverberate for a long time in the reader’s mind. Beware! Authors have a knack of casting a spell on you and attracting you to their point of view. Readers should step off from the author from time to time and reexamine author’s logic critically. This is a collection of stories; therefore I am giving a brief idea of each story. Time warp: One is likely to face several crossroads during life, at which one needs to take a decision. One’s experiences are one’s past; one’s expectations and ambitions are one’s future. The former tends to caution the latter. In this story both of them were personified and brought to the same plane as the present to advise Murthy who was at a crossroads in his life. Another world: This is fiction drifting into a fairy tale; it is a boy’s first contact with a raw unkind world. Crime and punishment: Some husbands are unreasonably cruel toward’s their wives. Once the torture crosses the limit of tolerance of the woman, she chooses an effective way to set things right. A.I.I.E. : Sometimes, well known persons might look bewitchingly attractive and make you run after them! So was it written: A construction worker found a copper plate which lured him to find the treasure. He succeeded but could not survive to enjoy the find! Divine justice: Disputing the parentage of a claimant, a greedy woman tried to grab that property by disputing the parentage of the claimant. Scientific evidence nailed her lie in the open court. Scorpion’s sting: In a weaker moment, even a good person might fall victim to evil influence. A circumstance might induce him to reform himself. A husband’s folly: Husband and wife should trust each other implicitly (In spite of occasional lapses). Extraction of truth: Professional etiquette is essential for every professional, more so for physicians. A tale of two ‘Friends’: Beware! Sometimes, we come across wicked persons who use friendship for purely selfish purposes.

Fiction is an imaginative expression of truth; most incidents can be expressed as short stories in a civilized language that can provoke a debate that tends to induce the society to think and act to reform itself. Readers should step aside and reexamine the author's logic critically and decide for themselves.I am giving a brief idea of each story of this collection. 1.Revenge: Vanaja did not believe the story narrated by her brother-in-law Anil, of the death of her sister Sarita. The girls meet after their marriages and punished the culprit, when an opportunity became available.3.A body's lapse: Unable to withstand prolonged separation from her husband Somu who went on an extended active war duty, the wife Ravali had sex with his brother Sirish, although she loved her husband ardently. As soon as she learned that Somu was returning soon, she abandoned Sirish telling him what his place was in her life.4.Mutual consent: An accident revealed that Hari had also been suffering from BP and diabetes and that he had to be under life- long medication, which was likely to reduce his sexual potency. His wife Ravali convinced Kamal to share life with her and her two children; Hari and Ravali agreed to separate under that mutual arrangement.5.Dramatic restoration: After reading the first few pages of a book, Sivam began suspecting his wife Menakshi; unable to suffer the humiliation, she attempted suicide by jumping into river Krishna but was saved by Pradeep and Narahari. The MLA influenced the police and got a beggar arrested for the crime. Sarat surrendered to the police and got the beggar released.7.Jai Jagannadh! After marriage, she was able to drop her adolescent affair entirely from her memory and life.8.Asoka: After winning the Kalinga war, Asoka punished the surviving rebels savagely by throwing them one by one into a cauldron containing boiling oil! When a Buddhist monk was thrown in, he surfaced unaffected and meditating in Padmasana. Asoka was so impressed that he adopted Buddhism and became a famous king. 9.Sabari's new version: Satyam remained faithful to his promise to Venkatarao and Janaki, without bothering whether the demand was fair or not.10.Stranger than fiction: For a girl under a strong sexual urge bordering on frenzy, death of her father earlier in the day did not seem to matter! Rani forced Prasad for sex but he resisted firmly; that could not restrain her.11.Example of the elders: An innocent girl saw her widowed mother having sex with another person; both were enjoying it. Unable to understand what they were doing, she tried and managed to do the same with her friend.12.What a family: A mother overlooked serious lapses of her children but was cruel towards her daughters-in-law. She accused the elder daughter-in-law of trying to poison her husband and managed to kill her. The family of his second wife could show him the real nature of his mother. She became so notorious that she could not obtain alliances for her unmarried children.13.The red ribbon: Two friends went on a sight-seeing trip. One of them was on a chase for women of easy virtue. A marriage is for a lifetime, in spite of occasional misunderstandings or lapses. Sleep walker: Sleep walking is an ailment; the afflicted person is unaware of what the person does or what is done to the person, during such a period; it can lead to a lot of misunderstanding. 7053: Sometimes a number may prove embarrassing! ... The book is written in lucid and candid manner. The author has anengrossing style of story telling...About my book of short stories.GOOD TIMES BOOKS PVT. LTD.Life is too short to gain all knowledge by personal experience; one needs to learn from the experiences of others. The best way to do this is through books. A short story deals with an issue generally faced by us at different stages in life and interestingly shows how to tackle it. Whether the reader agrees with the author or not it is certainly informative. Stories may be short but their impact would continue to reverberate for a long time in the reader's mind. Beware! Authors have a knack of casting a spell on the reader and attracting the reader to the author's point of view. Readers should step off from the author from time to time and reexamine author's logic critically. This is a collection of stories; therefore I am giving a brief idea of each story.1. A tale of two Friends: Beware! Sometimes, we come across wicked persons like Gireesh who use friendship for purely selfish purposes. Gireesh, Vagesa and Madhurima were college friends. Gireesh who could not tolerate Madhurima marrying Vagesa, Planned and killed Vagesa, in order to grab Madhurima. 2. Another world: This is fiction drifting into a fairy tale; it is Venkat's first contact with a raw unkind world.3. Crime and punishment: Some husbands like Marthandam are unreasonably cruel toward's their wives. Once the torture crosses the limit of tolerance of the woman, she chooses an effective way to set things right, like Chidrupi did in this story. With the help of her friend, she domesticated Marthandam by inducing him to believe for four years, that he was HIV positive.4. A.I.I.E. : Sometimes, well known persons might look bewitchingly attractive and make one run after them! That was what Murthy discovered about his own wife!5. So was it written: An illiterate construction worker Bhadradri found a copper plate with something engraved on it in a script he never saw. With great difficulty, he learnt that it concerned hidden treasure. It lured him to find the hidden treasure. He succeeded but could not survive to enjoy the find! 6. An invasion history forgot to record: Sometimes miracles defeat the greed of unjust invaders like Firoz Khan.7. Scorpion's sting: In a weaker moment, even a good person like the manager of the choultry, might fall victim to evil influence. A circumstance induced him to repent and reform himself by renouncing everything and becoming a sanyasi.8. A husband's folly: Nrayana suspected his wife and discovered that it was his own folly. Unlike Narayana, husbands and wives should trust each other implicitly (Even in spite of occasional lapses).9. Extraction of truth: Professional etiquette is essential for every professional but more so for physicians. A small mistake of Dr.Satyamurthy and his effort to cover it up boom-ranged on him. He had to confess his involvement.10. Time warp: One is likely to face several crossroads during one's life, at which one needs to take a decision. One's experiences are one's past; one's expectations and ambitions are one's future. The former tends to caution the latter. In this story both of them were personified and brought to the same plane as the present to advise Murthy who was at a crossroads in his life; he had to choose his future between politics and law.---

An exciting new novel from the author of Alex. In September 1840, two ships arrive on the shores of the Waitematā Harbour to establish Auckland, the new capital of New Zealand. Among the settlers on board the Platina is young Harry, travelling alone and determined to return to family in England.
