In the hope that the taste of thoughtful persons may not be yet at settled variance with what was formerly esteemed so favourable to the growth of individual and domestic piety, he determined to enter on the publication of several volumes from living preachers of the Church, if their consent could be obtained, and if the first results of the enterprise should not be mere discouragements.
