What is going on in the religious and spiritual lives of American teenagers? What do they actually believe? What religious practices do they engage in? Do they expect to remain loyal to the faith of their parents? Or are they abandoning traditional religious institutions in search of a new, more authentic "spirituality"? This book attempts to answer these and related questions as definitively as possible. It reports the findings of The National Study of Youth and Religion, the largest and most detailed such study ever undertaken. The NYSR conducted a nationwide telephone survey of teens and significant caregivers, as well as nearly 300 in-depth face-to-face interviews with a sample of the population that was surveyed. The results show that religion and spirituality are indeed very significant in the lives of many American teenagers. Among many other discoveries, they find that teenagers are far more influenced by the religious beliefs and practices of their parents and caregivers than commonly thought. They refute the conventional wisdom that teens are "spiritual but not religious." And they confirm that greater religiosity is significantly associated with more positive adolescent life outcomes. This eagerly-awaited volume not only provides an unprecedented understanding of adolescent religion and spirituality but, because teenagers serve as bellwethers for possible future trends, it affords an important and distinctive window through which to observe and assess the current state and future direction of American religion as a whole.

Through my hurts, my pain, and my sorrows, Jesus has been here with me, holding my hand. He gave me a sparkle of hope. It kept me going and still does. I know my heavenly Father knows where I am. He is my everything. One day as I was driving my city bus downtown Atlanta, I heard the Lord say three times, write a book. My English teacher said I couldn't put two words together. But my heavenly Father said write a book. So the words started to come, so I wrote. In 2005, my dad passed away. Then in 2006, my husband passed away. I didn't write for three years. My first poem I wrote after three years was, "Hey, Jesus do you know I moved!" It felt good to write again. Jesus said, "Martha, it's time to write." It was good to hear my Father's voice again. Thank you, Jesus, for trusting me with your words, the words that touch my heart. I pray that my book will touch your heart as it does mine. And I hope this book brings you A Sparkle of Hope. "The Lord's love never ends; his mercies never stop They are new every morning; Lord, your loyalty is great. I say to myself, The Lord is mine, so I hope in Him. The Lord is good to those who hope in him, to those who seek him." (Lamentations 3:21 25)

Tret finds out the truth about himself and his parents, which had been hidden from him since his birth. The young sorcerer follows Moreck, a master swordsman, to continue with the quest his parents began before he was born. The races of the elf, dwarf, and fae separated themselves from the human race almost one thousand ago, after the ending of the last Cycle; becoming present day myths. A magical talisman, belonging to each of the races, must find a wielder of it and come together for the final battle with the tainted god. Three different harbingers appear in the world, one at a time, preparing the way for the coming of their master. Records of them and the past Cycles were written in an ancient language that has been forgotten.
