The method of collecting and ling this census is different from that provided by the law under thejprevious State census was taken, in that the enumeration was in une, by persons appointed for that especial purpose. The practice of having each stator condense the returns for his own enumeration district may ly insure quick work, but has nothing else to recommend it, the nations thus made having never proved satisfactory.
