Special attention has been given to the matter of draft and its influence upon the economic results, measured both quantitatively and commercially. In the Appendix will be found the Rules for Conducting Boiler-trials adopted by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers. An expression of appreciation is due for the privilege of making use in this work of certain portions of the treatise on Mechanical Draft compiled by the author for the B. F. Sturtevant Company.
