Meet Clara, a five-year-old girl that is super positive and super happy. If something disappoints, she smiles it away. If something is wrong, she does her best to fix it. Clara learns that she has brain cancer. Her treatment requires surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Like any child, she first resists the need for radiation treatment and years of having to take medicine. She asks questions, her way of making sure that this is the best way to fix it. She reluctantly agrees, and although she is afraid, she maintains her positive attitude. Following the radiation treatment, Clara discovers that she has special powers that allow her to connect with animals in extraordinary ways she can tell what they are feeling inside, understand what they are saying and they can understand her. Clara's journey takes her to the dog park, where her dog Maggie is frightened by Fang the bully; the zoo where the sea lion Fuzzy is embarrassed to be seen; and the Cheetahs' den where Dash seems very angry about something. Clara quickly recognizes that, fear, embarrassment, and anger, are the same feelings she experienced with cancer and the cancer treatments. She responds to their plight with her winning attitude and special powers, helping them to overcome their negative feelings, making them happy once again. All terminally ill victims need support from family and friends, as well as their own courage to remain positive and diligent. For children, it's even harder. The fear they have from not understanding anything that is happening to them only adds to their anxiety: "What is cancer? Why me? Did I do something wrong?" SuperClara - A Young Girl's Story of Cancer, Bravery and Courage, presents answers in a way that instills comfort to the child battling a terminal disease and at the same time provides a much-needed injection of courage. SuperClara's story can also be an inspiration to anyone who is discouraged for any reason; it puts life's challenges and disappointments into perspective. It helps people of all age be more appreciative of their present circumstances. The funds generated will be directed to the Bridge to a Cure Foundation. The mission of Bridge to a Cure is to provide funds to research life-sustaining-treatments for terminally ill victims. The expectation is that the research will not only consider current and prior clinical trials, but also drugs that are off patent, and many of the alternative treatments.

This book introduces the key concepts of Java programming through the eyes of a small ladybug called Clara. Clara is a fun and extremely obedient insect, whose journey starts with limited skills. Readers learn programming by making Clara move around and manipulate objects in her world. As the book progresses, Clara becomes more intelligent and acquires new skills and (together with readers) learns by tackling some of the world’s greatest challenges. The book explains programming concepts through real-world problems such as launching rockets into space, automatically patching potholes, developing a vacuum cleaner robot, simulating projectile motion, dynamically avoiding obstacles, delivering mail, etc. Every chapter of the book starts by presenting a challenge and then continues to explain new programming concepts with the focus on tackling this challenge. Focusing the new material explanation on these challenges helps to remind the readers of how this material is connected with the problems that they may encounter in the real world and makes it easier to relate to. You can explore all programming challenges presented in this book on the Clara’s World website. Every programming problem covered in the book has a corresponding link to a problem template (for those readers willing to attempt the problem themselves), the link to the solution of this problem and a video recording of us solving this problem step-by-step. In addition, at the end of each chapter there is a link to fun exercises that readers are recommended to complete.
